🐾 Oscar’s Big Day 🐾
Today was all about this sweet little man, Oscar. ❤️
Oscar has arthritis, and grooming isn’t something he enjoys at the best of times. Standing for long periods is uncomfortable, the clippers are overwhelming, and the whole experience can be a lot for him. His wonderful owners, who care so deeply about his comfort and wellbeing, worked closely with their vet to make today possible, and he was given a calming sedative to help him through his appointment.
Was it a perfect groom? No.
But today was never about perfection.
Today was about kindness, patience, comfort, and giving Oscar the care he needed without pushing him beyond what he could cope with. Every little step was taken at his pace, with plenty of breaks, reassurance, and lots of gentle encouragement.
For older dogs, especially those dealing with arthritis, grooming can become much more than a cosmetic appointment. It’s about keeping them comfortable, clean, and feeling their best. Matted fur, long nails, and overgrown coats can make aches and pains even harder to manage.
So while this may not be the neatest groom I’ve ever done, it might be one of the most important.
Because what matters is that Oscar made it through. What matters is that he’s now clean, comfortable, and can enjoy the coming weeks feeling much better than when he arrived. What matters is seeing his lovely little face afterwards and knowing we achieved something together.
A huge thank you to his absolutely lovely owners for trusting me, for doing everything possible to support him, and for always putting Oscar’s needs first. Dogs like Oscar remind us that grooming isn’t always about making them look beautiful — sometimes it’s simply about helping them feel a little more comfortable, a little more cared for, and a little more loved.
And that is more than enough. ❤️🐾
