Shona was the dog that got me into competitive gundoggery. She set me dreaming and went on to exceed anything I could have wished for. She won a novice test on our sixth attempt, then won an open water test by three points only a year later, and was joint top-scoring dog at the Edenbridge and Oxted show, finishing the year with an award in her first field trial.
Her first litter produced two field trial winners, and one of these (Fletchingly Annraidh) has bred a field trial champion.
She and her two daughters, plus two granddaughters, have clocked up over 70 awards in working tests, so I owe her everything, and look forward to carrying on her legacy when her granddaughter hopefully produces some pups later this year.

Riska was awarded a CoM in the Cotswold and Wyevern veteran test yesterday.
Her granddaughter Serren, who is nearly one year old, and is owned by a friend, went one better in the puppy test and came 4th.
I will do a repeat mating with Serren's mum Kintra in the near future, so hopefully there will be some more outstanding puppies on the way soon.

Shona (Threevalleys Dawn Approach of Fletchingly) has reached the grand old age of 14 today. She stopped doing the long walks on the hill this spring, but still manages a flat out gallop down the hill from our top field.

KIntra's nine month old daughter, owned by a friend, entered her first puppy test yesterday and was awarded second place. Kintra is booked in for a repeat mating with FTCH Jarailstar Hogen of Stauntonvale later this year and I am very much looking forward to keeping a pup for myself.
KIntra was awarded a CoM in the UGBA open last week and her mother Riska has had two third places in veteran tests this summer.

Riska is now ten years old, but still has what it takes to work well, coming third in the Wye Valley veteran test at Monnington-on-Wye yesterday.
Her test was in the afternoon, so I was able to help by stewarding in the morning. These days rely entirely on volunteers, as well as generous landowners allowing us to use their ground.

This has been a good week for the golden oldies, with Shona celebrating her 13th birthday and her daughter Riska being awarded a CoM in the URC veteran test at Batsford. Shona is as sound as a bell, with no signs of stiffness - I am so fortunate to have such good bloodlines.

Last weekend Etive was awarded a CoM in the UGBA open.
This week there has been a group up from Kent and Sussex for training on the Welsh moors and there were three handlers that each own two Fletchingly dogs. I must be doing something right when people come back to me for a second puppy!
