We’re slowly heading into the rainy, cosy season… and I still owe you plenty of summer photos of all the little furry faces we’ve had the pleasure of walking, feeding or simply looking after! 🐾

In the meantime, I thought some of my lovely cat owners on here might enjoy a little glimpse into what I’ve been working on in my other job at KONG! 🐱

This Friday, I’ll be hosting a Cat Products Instagram Live, where I’ll be presenting some of our amazing KONG cat toys — and there’ll even be a giveaway at the end! 🎁

All smiles out for our first holidays of the year⛰️

We will be away until Tuesday and same thing next weekend for a couple of well-deserved summer breaks with all our little family (would’ve taken my reptiles if I could 😂).

I feel like the summer started in May and gosh, it’s been warm 🥵

Sharing some of the lovely walks and pets we’ve cared for already this busy season, it’s been amazing and we’re just half way!

Another dog walker sharing a hot weather warning post! ☀️🐾

And even for me with my Peruvian roots, I have to admit… it’s getting warm! So just imagine how our furry friends are feeling! 🥵

When temperatures go above 23°C, we will adjust our walks to keep your pooches safe and comfortable:

🌿 Morning walks will be completed before 9am.
🌿 Evening walks will start after 7pm until 9pm latest walk.
🌿 We will stick to shaded woodland areas.

We will collect and drop off your dogs unless you have suitable woodland areas nearby. We always carry water for them and will avoid encouraging too much running or intense exercise during warmer weather.

Once temperatures go above 25°C, we will cancel walks altogether to prioritise your dogs’ safety and wellbeing.
It is also safe to say that we will not be walking any dogs tomorrow (23/06) or Thursday due to the heat. Happy to pop over to let your dog out in the garden instead.

That said, I wanted to share with you my favourite summer tools that we have been using for years and that have truly been lifesavers for us: ☀️🐾

❄️ Cooling coats: mainly used for our Staffy, who gets warm very easily and is always on the go during walks.

🦴 KONG Classic natural rubber toy: perfect for creating easy, refreshing frozen recipes that help keep pooches calm, entertained, and mentally stimulated when the weather doesn’t allow us to spend as much time outdoors.

🧴Natural Flea & Tick repellant: we start using this from the first signs of spring, applying it between the shoulder blades and above the tail. We always do our best to check all the doggies, especially after walks, but please also check those common tick hotspots when your pooch is relaxed at home in the evening: head, neck, ears, underbelly, and between their toes.

💦 Cooling mat: a brilliant tool to have at home and place wherever your dog prefers to sleep or rest. It has been another precious addition for our Staffy during summer, and when travelling to warmer countries — as we love taking our dogs everywhere with us.

🚗 Air conditioning in the car & keeping dogs on seats rather than in the boot: keeping our furry passengers comfortable and safe is always a priority but make sure they’re attached appropriately.
❗️And please, never leave your dog alone in a car, especially during warm weather.

My little protégés’ safety is my #1 priority 🙌🏼

I am very happy to say that I have completed this weekend my K9 First Aid Certification! 📄

While I can say nothing bad has ever happened in 17 years and we always hope for it to stay that way, I am reassured to be fully trained to handle emergencies, including CPR, choking & bleeding protocol, heatstroke & seizure management, Injury assessment & bandaging and on that, the stick injuries reminded me that safe toys exist like the KONG SafeStix 🪃

When your pets are with our family, know that they aren't just being looked after, they are also being protected 💖

New wellies day for a dog walker can only be a happy day ❣️

My old ones lasted a good 8 years and got these on a deal for £7 but it helps when you’re a size 3 🤪
Other than that, I’ve been walking these 3 weekly for over a year now and it feels like I’ve known them forever 🥰 they’re so different from each other but all so special in their own ways.

The weekend is coming up peeps, enjoy family time and walks under the sun 🤞🏼

We hope all our furry, adopted friends had a wonderful Easter 🐾

As the warmer weather settles in, it’s lovely to see more dogs out and about enjoying the sunshine. However, it also brings a recurring challenge—encounters with well-meaning but sometimes unaware “my dog is friendly!” owners.

While it’s fantastic when a dog is social and well-trained, it’s important to remember that not all dogs feel the same. Some may be anxious, reactive, or simply need space, and even a brief, uncontrolled interaction can escalate very quickly.

Bruce is a great example. He’s a brilliant boy who has made incredible progress, but he can still be reactive in certain situations. After spending time at Dogs Trust, he was fortunate to find an owner committed to putting in the time, patience, and consistent work he needed.

When I first met Bruce in early January, he was understandably wary of strangers entering his home. With calm handling and the right approach, he has come a long way. Today, he greets me with a wagging tail, and we continue to build on his recall—though he remains on lead 99% of the time for everyone’s safety. On those rare occasions he gets a short, controlled run, it’s a real joy to see him enjoy his freedom.

Dogs like Bruce remind us that behavioural challenges are rarely their fault. More often, they reflect past experiences shaped by humans. With the right guidance, understanding, and environment, even the most complex cases can make meaningful progress.

A gentle reminder to always be mindful, respectful, and give other dogs the space they may need—because not every dog wants to say hello.

There are moments in this job that remind us just how special it truly is. As much as we adore dogs and cats, sometimes we are lucky enough to be in the presence of animals so majestic that the experience stays with you ✨

Belle’s mission was one of those moments. Being able to quietly enter her space each day, share a gentle moment with her, and care for her felt like a real honour. When you stand near such a magnificent creature, you almost don’t want to disturb the peace they carry with them 🪷

We’re used to caring for rodents, exotic birds and reptiles, but Belle was something else entirely. An experience like this even makes us consider taking further training to care for birds of prey in the future 🦅

A heartfelt thank you to her owners for trusting us with such a special responsibility. We truly hope we’ll have the chance to see Belle again 🫶🏼
