🐾🎆 Firework Season Is Coming! Are Your Dogs Ready? 🎆🐾
If you haven’t already, now is the perfect time to start desensitising your dogs and puppies to the bangs, pops and whistles that come with firework season!
🐶 If you own a Kybensha dog, you’ll know that this process began when your puppy was just 6 weeks old, and I always encouraged you to continue that training at home.
🐾 Maybel wasn’t bred by me, but I’ve been working on desensitising her too, and she’s already making fantastic progress towards being completely unfazed by loud noises.
❤️ It’s one of the simplest, yet most valuable things we can do for our dogs.
Every year, countless dogs experience terrible fear and anxiety because of fireworks, with some needing medication just to help them cope.
The reality is that fireworks aren’t going away anytime soon. But rather than simply accepting that our dogs will be frightened, we can take positive steps to help them feel safer and more confident.
Desensitisation doesn’t have to be difficult or time-consuming. With patience, consistency and gentle, gradual exposure, we can help our dogs learn that those strange noises aren’t necessarily something to fear.
Remember, the key is to start quietly, build up gradually and never force a frightened dog to endure something it finds distressing.
🐕 Let’s make firework season a little less frightening for our four-legged friends. They deserve it! ❤️🐾
