Not a post for the faint hearted but very useful information! Get down to the pumpkin patch!

I do see so many more a**l gland issues now as a vet then I did 14 years ago when I qualified. Perhaps diet related? Breed related? Lifestyle related?

These smelly little glands can cause a whole array of symptoms when full and even lead to a painful abscess. A firm poo does helps to keep them empty, so adding fibre to the diet can be extremely useful. Fibre can be added daily.

Fibre is especially helpful when a dog has diarrhoea to help firm the poo, and to keep the tum tip top!

On sunny days, pavements can get too hot for dogs to walk on.

To check, place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds; if it’s too painful for your hand, then it’s too painful for your dog’s paws. Find out more: thekennelclub.org.uk/hotpavements.
