Does your dog reach the end of the lead before you have even left the street?

Pulling is rarely down to just one thing. Your dog may still be learning what you want, feeling excited to be out, or finding it difficult to focus with so much happening around them.

They may also have learnt that pulling gets them closer to an interesting smell, another dog or that very important crisp packet.

Understanding why your dog pulls makes it easier to show them what to do instead.

Have you ever finished a walk feeling more worn out than your dog?

When your dog pulls, even a short walk can start to feel stressful. The good news is that calmer walks are possible with clear guidance, well timed rewards and regular practice.

I offer one to one loose lead sessions to give you a clear plan, as well as training walks to help your dog practise those skills in everyday situations.

Personal post so hang in there with me. 😀

Thursday evening was spent back home in North Wales, catching up with my close friend who had flown over from Australia 🇦🇺

We had the loveliest evening at Ffarm Hall The owner and team could not have made us feel more welcome, the food was amazing and the hotel itself is just beautiful and it was a prefect evening for us both.

It is Wales’ first fully plant based hotel and it is very dog friendly. It looked like there were more dogs having dinner with their owners than I walk in a day 😋🐾

I had a really lovely time with one of my oldest friends 🧡 and wanted to pass on a great dog friendly find.

I loved it so much that I am already planning the Kat’s Dogs Christmas party there.

Last week's heatwave meant one thing: it was time to restock the enrichment box 😅

With shorter walks and home visits, out came the cardboard boxes, paper bags, wrapped up towels, find it cups, and treats. Plenty to keep noses busy and brains working 🐾

It is cooler now, normal walks are back and the box of tricks has been restocked ready for next time.

There’s normally something tasty tucked away in the pouch. How else do I get all those photos? 👀🐾

With the younger dogs, I use higher value treats to reward their recall and the behaviours we want to see more often.

Of course, nobody wants to miss out, so there’s usually a little something for everyone, including me. I go for the veg over the pâté though! 🥕😂

Some dogs are not interested in treats and would much rather have a fuss or chase their favourite ball. It’s all about finding what each dog enjoys.

Phoebe is back from her holiday, and these two wasted no time picking up where they left off. They are fab together and know exactly how to get the game going.

It is a funny time of year, with dogs and their families heading off on holiday, but these two are always very happy to be reunited. Playtime is officially back on 🐾💚
