☀️ Hot weather warning for white and light-coloured pets! 🐾

Did you know pets with white or thin fur are at a much higher risk of sunburn? Areas like the ears, nose, tummy, and around the eyes can burn very quickly in strong sunshine.

Repeated sun exposure without protection can lead to painful skin damage and in some cases, even skin cancer. 😔

If your pet enjoys sunbathing or spending time outdoors, make sure you’re using a pet-safe suncream — especially during the hottest parts of the day. Human suncream can contain ingredients that are toxic to pets, so always choose one designed specifically for animals. 🧴🐶

If you’re unsure which sun protection is safest for your pet, speak to our veterinary team for advice❤️

This little cutie is Holly! Holly has just been diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism- a common disorder in older cats whereby the thyroid gland produces excessive amounts of thyroid hormone. Hyperthyroidism is believed to affect around 10% of cats over 10 years of age and causes signs such as:

• Increased appetite and/or thirst
• Weight loss
• Hyperactivity and behavioural changes
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Poor coat
• A rapid heart rate

Holly displayed a lot of the above signs so her owner brought her in to see our vet Geraldine. The condition is easily diagnosed via a blood test and is treated with oral medication. We recommend annual bloods in all cats over the age of 7 but if you notice any of the above signs in your cat, call us to arrange a vet appointment. We’re sure Holly will be feeling much better soon after starting her medication and we look forward to seeing her for a repeat blood test in a few weeks!🐾

🚨 FOUND CAT 🚨

A black and white male, entire cat was brought into the practice this evening after being found locally. He is not microchipped and was not wearing a collar.

We do have concerns regarding his welfare and are keen to locate his owners as soon as possible. He is currently safe with us overnight while we try to reunite him with his family.

If you think he may belong to you, please contact the practice as soon as we open tomorrow morning.

Please share to help us find his owners quickly 🐾
