Recall and loose lead walking have something in common:
They both rely on your dog checking in with you, not just being managed by equipment or commands.๐
That check-in comes from relationship โ a dog who's learned that sticking close to you is genuinely rewarding, not just the "rule" for the walk. It's built slowly, through consistency and by making yourself worth paying attention to, long before you ever need a recall cue.
If you feel like you're "fighting" for your dog's attention on walks, it's worth asking: outside of training moments, how rewarding is it for your dog to engage with you?
That's usually where the real work happens.๐
