From An Ordinary Morning To A Very Special Afternoon šŸ¤ŽšŸ‘°šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

For Mabel, Friday probably started like any other day…

She woke up at home, completely unaware that whilst she was going about her morning, her humans were getting ready for one of the biggest days of their lives and that she had somewhere very important to be too 🄰

I collected Mabel that morning and we made our way to the beautiful darver_castle where she joined her humans for their wedding photographs

One minute she was having an ordinary morning at home, and the next she was arriving at a castle to find her favourite people dressed in their wedding outfits, surrounded by cameras and plenty of people very excited to see her

And I think that’s one of my favourite things about bringing dogs along to weddings

To us, there have been months, sometimes years, of planning leading up to that day. The venue has been chosen, outfits have been carefully picked, suppliers booked and every little detail thought about

But your dog knows absolutely none of that

They don’t know why today is important. They don’t understand why everyone looks different or why suddenly somebody really, really wants them to look at a camera šŸ‘€

They just know that amongst this completely unfamiliar day are the people they know and love. And suddenly, there’s a little piece of normal amongst everything extraordinary

Mabel spent some time with her humans, joined them for their photographs and soaked up plenty of attention before her very important wedding duties were complete

Then it was back home with me, where she swapped the excitement of Darver Castle for a much quieter evening and an overnight stay while her humans celebrated into the night

By bedtime, Mabel was probably none the wiser about just how important her little adventure had been

But somewhere amongst her humans’ wedding photographs is a gorgeous little face that is such a big part of their everyday life

And I think there’s something really special about that!

From a completely ordinary morning…

To a little part in a day they’ll remember forever 🄰

Two Very Important Wedding Guests šŸ¤Ž

Today, Parker & Star had the most special invitation, to join Amie & Timothy on their wedding day at Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges

Collected this morning, they were brought along to be part of the moments that mattered most, joining their humans for the ceremony and photographs before spending the remainder of the day in my care

We took our time exploring the grounds, enjoying some fresh air and quiet walks between the celebrations, with plenty of cuddles, treats and downtime whenever they needed a little break from the excitement

Thank you Amie & Timothy for trusting me with Parker & Star and allowing me to be part of such an important day 🄰

Planning a Dog Friendly Wedding? Here are Six Beautiful Venues across Northern Ireland to Add to Your Shortlist… šŸ¤Ž

For many couples, including their dog in their wedding day isn’t just a nice idea… it’s something they’ve always imagined

After all, they’re part of the family 🄰

The good news is that more and more venues across Northern Ireland are welcoming four legged guests, making it easier than ever to include them in your celebrations

Here are a few of my favourites…

🐾 Limepark

🐾 The Wool Tower

🐾 Orange Tree House

🐾 Magheramorne Estate

🐾 Ballyscullion Park

🐾 Beech Hill Country House

If you’re viewing a venue with your dog in mind, here are a few questions worth asking…

✨ Are dogs welcome throughout the day, or just for the ceremony and photographs?

✨ Is there somewhere quiet they can rest away from guests if they need a break?

✨ Are there safe outdoor spaces for walks and toilet breaks?

✨ Are there any restrictions or venue guidelines you should know about before the big day?

Finding a dog friendly venue is the perfect place to start, but it’s only one piece of the puzzle

With the right planning (and someone dedicated to looking after your dog on the day), they can be part of your wedding in a way that’s relaxed, enjoyable and stress free for everyone involved, including them!

I’d love to know… have I missed any dog friendly wedding venues in Northern Ireland? Leave your recommendations belowšŸ‘‡šŸ»

When A Plan Comes Together šŸ¤Ž

Every wedding starts with vision

For some couples, it’s a particular venue. For others, it’s the flowers they’ve always dreamed of...

But for Hannah and Jonny, it was making sure Evie and Minnie were there to celebrate their big day

From taking the girls for a walk before the celebrations began, to helping them pose for photographs and settling them in for the night, my job was to make sure they were happy, relaxed and cared for throughout the day, allowing Hannah and Jonny to simply enjoy every moment together

After the wedding, Hannah sent me this review…

ā€œWe really wanted our dogs, Evie and Minnie, to be part of our wedding day, even specifically choosing a dog friendly venue, but worried about how to manage them throughout the day! Rebecca was amazing, she called to our cabin and collected them, took them for a walk around the venue and brought them over for photos - she even helped get them both to look at the camera!! She stayed until late in the evening and put them to bed before she left. It was a huge weight off our shoulders and we were able to enjoy our day knowing the pups were well cared for! Thank you Rebecca, I couldn’t recommend this service enough!!ā€™ā€

Reading messages like this never gets old 🄰

Thank you so much Hannah and Jonny for trusting me with your beautiful girls. It was such a privilege to help bring your vision to life 🐾

Meet Albie & Fia šŸ¤Ž

When I first introduced Tails & Veils, I shared a little about myself, but I quickly realised that I’d forgotten to introduce you to two very important members of our family…

Albie and Fia, our two rescue Cocker Spaniels 🄰

If your dog ever stays with us as part of your wedding package, chances are that these two will be the first to greet them at the door

Albie may only have three legs, but you’d never convince him to slow down because of it… although he is partial to a daytime snooze on the sofa

Then there’s Fia…

If she’s not running rings around my feet with a ball in her mouth, she’s probably following me from room to room. She has the gentlest nature and absolutely adores being around people

They couldn’t be more different, and I think that’s exactly why they’ve taught me so much

Every dog is different. Some are full of energy, some are happiest having an afternoon snooze, some settle into a new place straight away, whilst others need a little more time (and thats okay!)

This is why when your dog stays with us, I don’t expect them to fit into our routine, in-fact… we fit around theirs

Whether they want to spend the afternoon exploring, playing in the garden or curled up on the sofa after a walk, I want every dog that comes through our front door to feel safe, settled and completely at home

Because whilst you’re celebrating one of the biggest days of your life, I hope you can do so knowing your best friend is enjoying a lovely little holiday of their own 🐶

Evie & Minnie šŸ¤Ž

I think one of the biggest misconceptions about including your dog in your wedding day, is that everything has to go perfectly

But the truth is… it rarely does! And I think that’s often where the best memories are made

When Hannah and Jonny got married at L***y Beg Island Resort, Evie and Minnie spent the day relaxing in one of the dog friendly lakeside lodges, enjoying walks around the fairy trail and plenty of cuddles and fuss before it was time to join in the celebrations

They even came along to watch the ceremony from afar… although they couldn’t quite resist making themselves known with a little bark during the vows, much to everyone’s amusement 🤭

Looking back, I don’t think anyone remembers it as an interruption. It simply became part of their story… Because that’s the thing about dogs

They don’t understand that weddings are supposed to be quiet or perfectly timed. They don’t know when they’re meant to sit still or wait their turn. They’re just excited to be with the people they love most. And somehow, I think that’s what makes having them there so special

Thank you to Hannah and Jonny for trusting me with Evie and Minnie, and for allowing me to play a small part in your beautiful day 🐾

A Morning to Remember šŸ¤Ž

Whilst Rachel was getting ready to celebrate one of the biggest days of her life, Flynn and Darcy were enjoying a much quieter wedding morning at home šŸ”

Dressed in their little tuxedos, they spent the morning taking in the hustle and bustle of the house

At the time, these were simply photographs from a lovely wedding morning in December. Looking back now, they hold so much more meaning

Sadly, Darcy is no longer with us, making these memories all the more precious. They serve as a gentle reminder that our time with our dogs is never long enough, and that including them in life’s biggest milestones can leave us with memories we’ll treasure forever 🌈

Thank you to Rachel and Padraig for trusting me with Flynn and Darcy, and for allowing me to play a small part in such a beautiful day 🐾

Betty Had To Be There šŸ¤Ž

One of the things I love most about wedding dog chaperoning is seeing just how important dogs are to the people who love them

Long before the dress is chosen, the invitations are sent or the table plans are finalised, many couples already know one thing for certain…

Their dog has to be part of the day, and that was certainly true for Betty 🄰

Whilst Susan and Stephan were celebrating at Beech Hill Country House, Betty was there to be part of those memories too. From photographs with her favourite people to soaking up all the attention that comes with being a very loved wedding guest

It’s easy to see dogs as an extra detail on a wedding day, but for many couples they’re so much more than that

They’re the companion who’s been there through life’s biggest moments. The one who greets you at the door after a difficult day. The one who never misses an opportunity for a cuddle, a walk or a treat

They’re family šŸ¤Ž

Being able to help couples include such an important part of their lives in one of their biggest milestones is something I’ll never take for granted

Thank you to Susan and Stephan for allowing me to play a small part in your beautiful day 🐾
