🐾Today is National Love Your Pet Day!💕

National Love Your Pet Day is celebrated annually on February 20th, a day to show extra appreciation for our pets by giving them more attention, new toys, treats, or quality time, recognizing the joy, companionship, and health benefits they bring, whether they're dogs, cats, birds, or reptiles.

How to Celebrate:
•Extra Cuddles & Playtime: Dedicate more quality time with extra walks, cuddles, or playtime.
•New Treats & Toys: Surprise them with a new toy or their favourite snack.
•Pamper Them: Give them a bath, brush their fur, or just focus on spoiling them.
•Focus on Their Needs: Use the day to ensure their favourite activities and needs are met.

Why It Matters:
•Pets offer us unconditional love and reduce stress, anxiety, and loneliness.
•They improve our physical health through increased exercise and provide mental well-being.

So go on, give your your beloved pets some extra love today, because they deserve it! 💕

Thinking of starting a new pet skincare routine?

Why regular grooming matters:
Creating a consistent grooming routine is a great way to spend quality time with your pet. Many animals—including dogs, cats, rabbits and some small mammals—find gentle brushing soothing. These shared moments help build trust, strengthen your bond, and encourage calmer, more relaxed interactions. Beginning a routine sets the stage for daily moments of connection for both of you.

Promoting skin and coat health:
Regular grooming plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin and a glossy coat. Brushing removes loose hair, prevents knots and matting, and spreads natural oils across the coat. This not only improves coat condition but can also reduce shedding and lower the risk of skin irritation. For pets affected by allergies or dry skin, consistent grooming can make a noticeable improvement.

Detecting problems early:
Grooming also provides a valuable opportunity to monitor your pet’s health. While brushing, you may notice lumps, swelling, changes in the skin, or signs of parasites such as fleas and ticks. Spotting these early allows you to seek veterinary advice sooner, increasing the chances of effective treatment. Flea medication can be ordered through us, or you can call 020 8368 9798 for advice.

Benefits for pet owners:
Caring for your pet can be just as beneficial for you. Grooming is a calming, mindful activity that helps reduce stress and encourages relaxation, creating a positive experience for both human and animal.

How to get started:
🐾Use grooming tools suited to your pet’s coat type
🐾Set a regular schedule that fits their needs
🐾Be gentle, patient and encouraging
🐾Contact your vet if you notice skin issues or grooming becomes difficult

A pet skincare routine is a simple but effective way to support wellbeing, strengthen your bond and enjoy a little extra calm every day.

If you’d like help with coat care or nail trimming, our veterinary nurses can assist. Book an appointment for a skin check or a gentle grooming demonstration to help you feel confident at home.

Today is International Hedgehog Day! 🦔

Observed on 2nd February, International Hedgehog Day is a fun and educational day dedicated to raising awareness about hedgehogs and their role in the ecosystem. In some parts of the world, particularly Europe, hedgehog numbers are sadly declining – this appears to be due to a variety of complex factors such as habitat loss through urbanization and agriculture, food scarcity due to pesticide use, and disease caused by parasites.

Create a Hedgehog Habitat
If you’re lucky enough to have a garden – prime hedgehog habitat – then why not make it hedgehog safe?
Always check for spiny visitors before mowing your lawn and allow an escape route from your pond or water feature. Check bonfires before lighting them as these are another popular hiding place for hedgehogs and take care with netting as they can easily get tangled!

If you come across a hedgehog in need of help, keep it warm and offer it cat or dog food along with freshwater – this is much better than giving it milk and bread. You can then either take it to a local rescue center or, if it’s perked up, release it back into the wild.

Look at little baby Ella 💕
She was very brave when she came in for her second vaccination this week, she didn't even make a sound. She then had cuddles with the team, helping her to socialize to which she responded to with kisses for everyone!
