We’ve all been there. The standoff where your dog is dancing and staring, waiting for you to do the thing, and you’re trying to negotiate a different plan. Maybe it’s 105 outside, and the heat has reached dangerous levels. Maybe wildfires have made the air unbreathable. Maybe it’s hurricane season, and you’re watching rocks fly through the sky. Or maybe it’s Monday, and you’re doing your Sunday routine.

While you know why it’s different, your dog is just staring, waiting for you to follow the rules, and has no interest in a different plan. No dog ever died from missing one walk ⚠️

With highs of 31 degrees expected this week, it's vital to make these checks before walking your dog.

If the pavement is too hot for your hand for five seconds, it's definitely too hot for paws. While the weather is hot, opt for walks at dusk and dawn to avoid burnt paw pads and heatstroke.

And remember. If in doubt, don't go out.

Pretzel 🥨 mode activated! Bless her even with a fan on her she’s struggling to stay cool in this. We were out super early and apart from toilet outings ( even those were hard for her - literally 3 minutes) she won’t be out until again until dark. Senior dogs really struggle in the heat and it breaks my heart seeing them dragged on hot pavements being walked. No dog needs to be walked in 39 degree hear. Ever. Heatstroke can come on quick and be very dangerous for our pups. 😎

Don’t risk it, no dog has ever died from not being walked.
