Buck was sadly returned to us as he was unable to adjust to his owners' changing circumstances. When he arrived back in kennels, he shut down and his confidence was very low. Buck was worried by lots of things, including meeting new people🐾

Our staff at Dogs Trust Leeds took things really slowly and helped him build his confidence, they found that once he was comfortable with them, he was actually a super fun and playful, young pooch.

Once he was ready to meet potential adopters, he was very quickly matched with a new family who were prepared to work with us and give him all the time he needed to get to know them💛

Although his new family needed to continue working on his confidence, Buck has settled in incredibly well and he is now loving life again.

'Now the house wouldn't be the same without him! He is loving, snuggly and super nosey! His favourite spot is on the windowsill channelling his inner cat! He loves his grub (and stealing socks) and long walks on the moors, and he is a pretty good park run companion too.'

Every dog deserves a happy home, and every owner deserves someone to turn to when things feel tough. That’s why we’re here: to make help seeking simple, judgment-free and completely normal. Click here for more information about our behaviour services: https://bit.ly/41toDKH

He was adopted by his new best pal, 92-year-old Thelma. Show them some love in the comments 💛

We’re seeing a real shift in dog welfare in the UK. Dogs are staying with us for longer and need more specialist care, while many owners are struggling before their dog ever reaches us. Along with rehoming, our focus needs to be on being there earlier, preventing dogs from reaching crisis point, and helping more dogs both here in the UK and around the world. 🐾

Everyone say hello to young Coco who is waiting at Dogs Trust Manchester to be adopted 🐶

What did you notice about her first? Probably her kind brown eyes, or beautiful big ears? However you might also notice the white dots sprinkled across her neck. Unfortunately, those marks were made by a prong collar, which Coco's owner was urged to use by a trainer, along with a shock collar.

The owner was doing what they were told would help Coco and did not know the negative implications these ‘tools’ can have. Shock collars are designed to ‘correct’ unwanted behaviour by giving dogs electric shocks via their neck. We believe that no dog should be trained through pain or fear, hence why we are calling for shock collars to be banned in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland ❌

We've found Coco to be a very friendly girl who has kept staff in our Customer Support Centre entertained since her arrival - she just loves making friends! This sweetheart is ready for a new home, could you be her fresh start? https://bit.ly/4wVg8GK
