🐱❤️ TOM & JERRY UPDATE! ❤️🐱

We have a lovely update on Tom and Jerry, the two little kittens who were sadly dumped and brought into our care.

Our amazing Harriet has stepped up to the plate and taken these two little ones home to foster them! 🏡💕 They are doing really well, and we couldn't be happier that they have a safe, loving place to stay while they grow and thrive.

A huge THANK YOU to Harriet for opening her home and heart to these little babies. 🥹❤️

It takes a village to help animals in need, and we're so lucky to have such caring people on our team who are willing to go the extra mile for the animals who need us most. 🐾

Keep an eye out for more updates on these two little sweethearts! 😻💕

🍂🐾 A little autumn appreciation post for Ellie! 🐾🍂

Many of you will know that Dr Ellie is the proud mum of two beautiful French Bulldogs, Stanley and Mabel! ❤️ She’s on annual leave this week and kindly sent us some gorgeous photos of her fur babies enjoying a stunning autumnal walk. 🍁🍂

We were hoping Ellie would be enjoying a well-deserved, relaxing week off, but today she came in as an emergency to help our lovely little patient Mocha the guinea pig, who we posted about yesterday! 🐹💕

Ellie is incredibly dedicated to her patients and truly goes above and beyond to make sure they get the care they need, even when she’s supposed to be enjoying some time off!

We’re so lucky to have such a caring and compassionate vet on our team. Thank you, Ellie, for always going the extra mile! 🥰❤️

We hope you still manage to enjoy some well-deserved downtime with Stanley and Mabel! 🐶🍂

🐹 Meet Mocha the guinea pig! 💚

Mocha is a very special little piggy who has joined us for the day as he’s been struggling with a condition called gut stasis.

Gut stasis can affect both rabbits and guinea pigs and occurs when the normal movement of the digestive system slows down or stops. It can be a serious condition, so prompt veterinary care and supportive treatment are really important. 🩺

Mocha is receiving lots of TLC, careful monitoring and supportive care from our team to help get him feeling more like himself again. 🥰

He’s been such a good little patient and has been an absolute sweetheart throughout his visit! Sending lots of love to this brave little guy. 💚🐹

🐱 Meet Tom and Jerry! 🐱

These two little kittens came into our care today after being found abandoned in a box. Thankfully, they are now safe with us, and we’ll be doing everything we can to make sure they get the care and attention they need. They are a bit scared at the moment so are hiding in their tray for comfort! ❤️

We’ll be giving both boys a full health check, and one of them will be having X-rays, as he has some very stiff hips for such a young kitten. 🩺🐾

We’ll keep you updated on how Tom and Jerry get on, so keep an eye on our page for more news about these two little fighters! 💕

A huge thank you to everyone who helps animals in need. Every little life deserves a chance. ❤️🐾

🐊💚 Meet Victor the anolis barbatus! 💚🐊

This little guy is Victor, an anolis barbitus, also known as a Cuban “fake chameleon”! 🦎

Victor recently came to see Dr Ellie for a check-up after his owner noticed a lump on his tail. Victor belongs to one of our amazing VCAs at our sister practice, Corner Vets, so we were delighted to welcome this unique little patient!

We see all sorts of wonderful creatures here at Winton Lodge Vets, and Victor certainly made for a very special visit! 🥰

Have you ever met one of these before? 👀

💔 Cat Found on Alexandra Road, Epsom 💔

Sadly, we have had a brindle tortoiseshell cat brought into us who was found deceased on Alexandra Road in Epsom.

She is microchipped, but unfortunately, the chip is not registered, so we have been unable to identify her owner.

We know how heartbreaking it is to lose a beloved pet, and we would really like to reunite this little girl with her family. ❤️

If you think she may be your cat, please call us on 01372 674 358.

Rest in peace sweet girl 🕊️🌈

🐹 Meet Steve the guinea pig! 🐹

Steve visited us today as he’s been feeling a little bit itchy-scratchy recently! 🐾

Dr Ellie took a closer look at a sample under the microscope and discovered that Steve had some unwanted visitors… mites! 🔬🦠

Mites are a relatively common cause of itching in guinea pigs and can cause significant irritation and discomfort. Some types live on the skin, while others burrow into it, so it’s important to get any persistent scratching checked by a vet. In severe cases, mites can even cause painful skin lesions and hair loss.

Luckily, Steve came to see us so we could get to the bottom of his itchiness and start him on the right treatment. ❤️

If your guinea pig has been scratching more than usual, has hair loss, scabs or sore skin, don’t hesitate to get them checked out by your vet.

Get well soon, Steve! 💚🐹

🐾 Meet Holly! 🐾

Holly recently visited us for an ultrasound and X-rays as we investigate the cause of her recent weight loss.

Diagnostic imaging can be incredibly helpful for our vets, allowing us to look more closely at what’s happening inside our patients’ bodies and helping us decide on the best next steps for their care. 🩺

Holly will be coming back to see us for a weight check so we can keep a close eye on how she’s doing. We’ll be keeping our fingers and paws crossed for this lovely girl! 💕🐾

🎆 Fireworks season is here! 🎆

Some dogs (and cats!) find fireworks absolutely terrifying. The loud bangs, bright flashes and unfamiliar sounds can cause our furry friends a huge amount of stress and anxiety. 🐶🐱

There are a few things you can do to help your pets feel safer during fireworks season:

🐾 Keep them indoors – Walk dogs before dark and keep cats inside if possible.

🏡 Create a safe space – Set up a cosy, quiet den where your pet can hide and feel secure.

🎵 Mask the noise – Close windows and curtains, and put on the TV or some gentle music to help muffle the bangs.

❤️ Offer comfort and reassurance – Let your pet come to you for comfort if they need it. Never force them to interact if they'd rather hide.

🚪 Keep them secure – Make sure doors, windows and gardens are secure to prevent frightened pets from escaping.

🐕 Never take dogs to firework displays – Even normally confident dogs can become frightened by unexpected noises.

If your pet struggles with fireworks, please give us a call. We can help you explore ways to manage their anxiety and make this time of year a little less stressful.

We've also shared some helpful advice from the Dogs Trust poster below. Please give it a read and share it with other pet owners to help keep our four-legged friends safe and happy this fireworks season! 💙
