This wek, I’ve written about the two very different worlds of veterinary medicine: the James Herriot-style vet who never takes a day off, visits pets at home, and still gets offered wine by clients 🍷… and the world of modern veterinary medicine, where clinics are efficient and high-tech, there is a healtier work-life balance, but vets can sometimes feel like numbers on a rota.

Having worked in both, I’ve found my own balance, and shared what each world can learn from the other.

We talk a lot about physical health, but what about our pets’ mental health?

I once met a cat whose owner’s anxiety became his own.
It reminded me how deeply pets absorb our emotions, and how easily we can overlook their mental wellbeing.

Stress, boredom, fear, over-stimulation, anxiety, etc: pets feel very similar emotions to us.
As vets and pet parents, we owe it to them to care for their mind as much as their body.

I want to make vet advice more accessible — can you help me?

For years, I’ve watched pet owners struggle with vet costs, and it breaks my heart.
Many skip or delay visits because they’re worried about money. I want to do something about that.

💡 I’m testing a simple idea:
Unlimited, non-emergency vet advice for just $6.99/month (or the equivalent in your country).
Across one year, that’s about the same as one vet consultation, but you get access for a whole year.

You can ask me about things like:
❤️ General wellness & minor symptoms, deciding when a visit is needed and when it can wait
🐶 Behaviour & training
🍽️ Nutrition & diet

⚠️ Not for emergencies, prescriptions, or diagnoses — but for all the small worries in between.

If I could, I’d do it for free. But since it takes time from my working week, I’ve made it as affordable as possible.

👉 Would you personally use something like this?
Or what would make it more useful to you?
Your feedback means a lot.

If I could change one thing about veterinary medicine...
…it would be this: we need to stop being reactive and start being proactive.

So many problems I see every day aren’t just medical, they’re lifestyle.
Sometimes the answer isn’t another pill, it’s a better life.
