With the weather being unable to make up its mind as to if it wants to be hot or cold, our walking schedule might be *slightly* off. On those days, we are often unable to take the dogs out for walks in an enriching environment and sometimes it leaves Fido a little unsettled and unable to settle. That’s where indoor enrichment can really work its magic. Some of the ideas are nice and easy for us humans to set up, and they just use the everyday things around us.

Have you never heard of enrichment before? Or do you know that enrichment for our dogs is important, but unsure on how to include it? Need to keep your dog busy for a call you have scheduled?
Enrichment can help. You can join our FREE online Enrichment course and work through the ideas, challenges and fun games with your dog.

Let us know how you get on, and see you online :)

Enrichment enables dogs to explore and use their natural instincts. Enrichment activities can prevent boredom, build confidence, and teach a variety of skills such as problem-solving, searching and agility. It allows them to sniff and chew appropriately. Plus, it’s the ideal way to manage their ene...

Like so many other colleagues, I am disgusted and mortified by the recent news in the U.K. to ban XL Bully dogs.
Over the past 19 years, we have trained so many XL Bully, XL Bully mixes, and they are INCREDIBLE dogs. They are smart, affectionate and very very trainable. Like any breed, they of course have the ability to bite, but those few who will use their dog as a legalised weapon will not be swayed by a ban anyway. Bans don’t work and only punish good dogs and good people.

So with that said, we have extended our free MUZZLE TRAINING and BASIC TRAINING to not only pitbull owners, but also XL bully owners too.
Please don’t forget that we are still continuing our free e-collar armistice where you surrender your electronic collar in exchange for us showing you that there is another way to train your dog.

These are FREE resources for all. Send us a DM

Enrichment Tips and Tricks:
Grab an old shoe box, and fill with fabric napkins, socks, and rags. Hide treats amongst the fabric pile. You can adjust the difficulty by tying the fabric around some of the treats.
Close the box, and watch your dog keep busy for hours trying to open the box and unwrap the fabric parcels.

Enrichment Tips and Tricks:
I know that most enrichment toys are targeted to dry treats/kibble. But don’t panic if your dog likes, or is restricted to wet food only.
You can easily dehydrate the wet food in the oven and crumble it for dry treats. You can also use plates or cups turned over (or hidden) as enrichment games. One of our favs is hiding a small yogurt pot (1/4 filled with wet food) behind a chair or table, then asking our dog to find it. It’s fun, doesn’t add extra treats to their diet, and is pretty mess free.

Enrichment Tips:
Have you tried the ice bucket challenge?
Get yourself a small bucket (or you can make mini ice ones with a kids cup), add some water, chicken broth (or dog tea), treats, long lasting chews (chicken feet are a fav ),toy, and then freeze.
You can make this as easy or difficult as you like.
GIve to your dog on the grass. If you’re a city dog, contain the mess by putting it in an oversized dog bowl or plastic lid.
The textual and flavour changes as things defrost are amazing enrichment fun for Fido.

Enrichment Tips and Tricks:

Focus on different textures and sensations. Try mixing up hard and soft treats in the same enrichment session. Try a lick mat with half soft food and a little dog safe smoothie, and top with whole blueberries, apple cubes, hard treats and maybe a little dehydrated liver. Taste and texture sensation.

Enrichment Tips and Tricks:
Instead of putting your used envelopes straight into the recycling, pop a few treats in them, screw them up, and put them in a box for your dog to snuffle and forage.

Just make sure they don’t eat the envelopes

Have you ever tried this?
