Meet Penny 🐕
Penny was recently seen at Vet in the City for an acute change in her resting respiratory rate and sudden disinterest in food. Investigations carried out in practice included blood tests which revealed a marked eosinophilia & chest x-rays also revealed characteristic lung changes, leading to suspicions which were then confirmed by performing a lungworm snap test. Penny was quickly started on treatment and has made a huge improvement! Luckily Penny’s condition was caught early so she will go on to make a full recovery ❤️
Lungworm is contracted through both direct and indirect contact with wildlife such as slugs, snails and foxes or other infected animals. Lungworm can spread rapidly through pet communities. Symptoms of lungworm include coughing, fatigue, vomiting, weight loss, a lack of interest in food and increased respiratory rate. If you notice these symptoms, contact us immediately for treatment.
