It’s so easy to simply set off on the same route, doing the same dog walk each day, thinking exercise is the only purpose of the walk.
As it’s 🐕WALK YOUR PET MONTH I would love you to think about making a few changes to your dog walking routine and consider mixing it up by adding some of these types of walks:
🐾How about discovering new trails for starters. Grab the local map and select new places to explore! Taking the lead places you in the pilot seat rather than your dog being on auto-pilot, perhaps repeating familiar, unwanted scenarios!
🐾Try a SNIFFARI, yes, a sniffing walk that allows your dog all the time they need to explore through their amazing sense of smell. It’s actually good for your dog, as sniffing can lower your dogs blood pressure so they relax but with tons of brain stimulation that leads to a happy and mentally tired dog. It’s a great way to decompress from the rush of daily routines.
🐾Walking your dog is also a great time to train your dog so heading out for a ‘Training Walk’, with favourite treats in hand can be a real boost. As well as the basics, developing distance cues and reinforce good returns and of course, walking on the lead without pulling!
Above all, consider your walks a time for bonding with your dog!
