London Vet Clinic

London Vet Clinic London Vet Clinic is an independent clinic in Central London. Out of hours service provided 24/7. In 1985 we moved to our present premises on York Street.

We provide primary and specialist care for companion animals and their families and are open 5 days a week. The London Veterinary Clinic, in the heart of London, provides primary and specialist care for companion animals and their people. Originally called the Portman Veterinary Clinic, we opened in 1973 near Portman Square to care for pets in Marylebone, Mayfair and Lisson Grove. Today most peopl

e and pets who visit us come from St John’s Wood, Hampstead, Highgate, Camden, Kensington, Chelsea and Hammersmith. To reflect that change the clinic name was changed to the London Veterinary Clinic. We are open 5 days a week and have a 24 hour out of hours emergency service provider on call for anything outside of our opening hours.

Duke came in for an ultrasound...but quickly decided his talents were better suited to reception 🐾

Safe to say, he took his new role very seriously. Employee of the month? We think so! 💙

The answers you've been waiting for! 👀

We’ve covered why corneal ulcers happen and the story behind “David’s Magic Drops.” Now Dr Bruce Fogle asks the practical questions that you're all wondering.

What do you want to see next?

"David’s Magic Drops” wasn’t the product’s official name…it was a nickname that stuck!

After seeing some remarkable early results in practice, Dr David Williams explains how it differs from conventional eye lubricants, and how products like this may play a role in helping to prevent corneal ulcers in at-risk breeds.

Come back for part 3 - the drawbacks 💙

Before you press play… if you decide to try Dr David Williams’ challenge…please remember to blink eventually! 😅

In this fascinating conversation with Dr Bruce Fogle, veterinary ophthalmologist Dr David Williams explains why pugs and other flat-faced breeds are so prone to corneal ulcers, and why reduced corneal sensation means many don’t blink as often as they should.

Understanding why these ulcers develop is the first step towards preventing them, stay tuned for part 2!

Recently, Reggie the lovely Labrador came to see us after breaking the nail on his dew claw.

A torn dew claw can be surprisingly painful and often needs veterinary attention to prevent infection, manage discomfort, and help it heal properly. Fortunately, Reggie was an absolute superstar throughout his visit and was soon on the road to recovery. 💙

If your dog catches or breaks a nail, it’s always worth having it checked! Especially if there’s bleeding, swelling, or they’re reluctant to put weight on the paw.

Meet Bonnie 🐾🧡

This is Bonnie, a working Golden Retriever, who popped in for her annual vaccinations and couldn’t resist showing off her pearly whites!

Keeping up with routine vaccinations helps protect dogs from preventable diseases, while regular oral health checks are an important part of keeping those sparkling smiles healthy too. Bonnie certainly gave us the perfect opportunity to admire her beautiful teeth!

Such a superstar patient – thank you for making us smile today, Bonnie! 🐶

Meet Ellie! 💙

Ellie, our adorable 8-week-old Australian Shepherd, popped in this morning for a socialisation visit! These happy, pressure-free visits help puppies build positive associations with the veterinary clinic, meeting new people, hearing new sounds, and enjoying plenty of treats and fuss along the way.

Starting young can make future vet visits much less stressful and helps set puppies up for a lifetime of confident, happy healthcare.

Isn’t she gorgeous? 😍

As temperatures rise across London, our furry friends can be at serious risk of heatstroke. Dogs, cats, rabbits and other pets can overheat much faster than we do, so it’s important to take extra care during hot weather.

- Ensure fresh water is always available
- Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening
- Keep pets in cool, shaded areas with good airflow
- Use fans or air conditioning where possible
- Never leave a pet in a car, even for a few minutes

⚠️ Watch out for signs of heatstroke:
• Excessive drooling
• Heavy or frantic panting
• Weakness or lethargy
• Bright red or dark gums
• Vomiting or diarrhoea

If you’re concerned your pet may be suffering from heatstroke, move them to a cool area immediately and contact us for advice.
