🐾 CANINE PARVOVIRUS: KNOW THE RISKS, PROTECT YOUR DOG! 💙
Canine parvovirus (Parvo) is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening virus that mainly affects a dog’s intestinal tract and immune system.
🚨 Know the warning signs:
• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy or unusual tiredness
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea, which may contain blood
• Abdominal pain
🦠 How does it spread?
Parvo can spread through infected faeces and contaminated environments, including soil, grass, objects and shoes. Your dog doesn’t need direct contact with an infected dog to be at risk.
💙 Prevention is key!
✔️ Keep vaccinations up to date.
✔️ Follow your vet’s advice on puppy vaccinations and safe socialisation.
✔️ Avoid potentially contaminated areas until your puppy is adequately protected.
✔️ Clean contaminated areas using a disinfectant effective against parvovirus.
⚠️ If your dog shows signs of Parvo, contact your vet immediately. Call ahead before visiting, as the virus is highly contagious.
🐩 At Mammal Pet Care, we believe that awareness and prevention are essential to keeping our furry friends healthy.
