Kentish Town City Farm

Kentish Town City Farm Free entry, open daily, 9am -5pm. Visitors welcome. Kentish Town City Farm is a charity providing educational, therapeutic and creative activities.

Founded in 1972, Kentish Town City Farm is a charity helping local families, offering educational, therapeutic and creative opportunities in an urban farm setting. It developed out of the needs of people living in an urban environment to connect with animals and nature and is a focal point for the local community today. Entrance is free but we rely on visitor donations for the upkeep of the animal

s. The farm has a small core staff but depends on volunteers to help out. Children and young people are encouraged to participate in all aspects of animal care, from mucking out to helping with feeds and site maintenance. Adult volunteers also help plan and run seasonal fundraising events, holiday activities for children and help out in the farm office. The farm has a stock of chickens, cows, ducks, geese, goats, horses, pigs and sheep with some rare breeds. They are friendly and used to visitors. Piglets and lambs are born at the farm each year. The farm is located amidst dense local authority housing in North London, covering four and half acres, beside local train lines. The Farm has a classroom, under 5's activity room, a training room, fitted kitchen, stables, community fruit and vegetable gardens and seating areas. It also has disabled access including hard paths and decks throughout. As well as providing pony riding opportunities for local children the farm has also been offering Riding Therapy for children with disabilities for 40 years. We serve children with autism, learning and physical disabilities, including children who cannot walk or with limited mobility. Please visit our website for full details of volunteering opportunities, our educational programme for schools, pre-school classes for under 5's and holiday & weekend activities, including drop-in Pony Rides for children. The farm is open between 9-5 and open 7 days a week all year round. Everyone is welcome.

Join the author of Stableheart, Nicci Johnson aka Nicola Brooks-Williamson on Sunday 21st June from 10-12noon at Kentish Town City Farm.

Afterwards kids can go and visit the guinea pigs, chickens, rabbits, goats and donkeys. Just like the characters in Stableheart.

A new contemporary series with a diverse cast of characters gallops onto the scene.

A girl. A horse. An unbreakable bond.

🌳 On the farm, we offer no-pressure animal handling sessions Wednesday - Monday. Come down and meet an array of animals - guinea pigs, donkeys, maybe even the lambs or chickens! πŸ‡

🌿 We hope you are taking moments for yourselves this Mental Health Awareness Week 🌿

🌿 Our community members who experience learning disabilities and differences can feel isolated and excluded from everyday activities. On the farm we have set up 🌻Sunflower Sessions🌻, a programme providing a supported space exclusively for those who may feel, or be, unable to take part in other activities. 🌿

🌻 Join us for arts and crafts, gardening, animal encounters, and so much more! Sessions run for six weeks at a time, and you are welcome to bring your 1:1 person if you need them. 🌻

🌿 Details and signups are on our website, we look forward to welcoming you to the farm! 🌿

🌿 This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. 🌿

🏑 Our little farm is an oasis to many in the middle of a chaotic concrete jungle, a calm and green environment where our local community can come for a breather. Whether it’s a quiet wander when you need a moment of peace, a few minutes away from the office at lunchtime, or your regular space to decompress, the farm is here to help you find your peace. πŸ’š

🌳 Enjoy this minute of calm in one of our favourite spots on the farm - have you found it yet? πŸ¦β€β¬›

🌿 Keep an eye on our social media this week for posts on our programmes and experiences that help support the mental health of our community. 🌿

We will be CLOSED on Thursday 14th May, for staff training. Thank ewe πŸ‘

Come and hear the dawn chorus

Wednesday 21st May β€’ 7am-8.30am

There are lots of birds at Kentish Town City Farm since the 4 acre site attracts birds from both the town and Hampstead Heath. This is a rare opportunity to come to the farm before it opens and hear the dawn chorus of birds including: robins, blackbirds, blackcaps, wrens, sparrows, great t**s, blue t**s, coal t**s, gold crests among others. The session will also teach you about the birds so you can recognise them and understand a bit about how they live.

The workshop is free to attend but please register using this form https://forms.gle/McMW1UBiKSuu7bkW9

Making wildlife habitats: hoverfly lagoons

Wednesday 6th May 5pm-7pm

Hoverflies are important pollinators in the garden so this workshop will be showing people how to create habitats for hoverflies to lay their eggs in: hoverfly lagoons! Come along to learn all about hoverflies and how to make lagoons for their larvae. Later in the year we can check how many hoverfly larvae there are in the lagoons. A great session for everyone, including children.

Free to attend but please register here: https://forms.gle/cf7HNqEBWAq91mW7A
