Westside Vets

Westside Vets The Westside Vets family have cared for pets in the local communities of Battersea, Clapham and Wandsworth for over 30 years.

We've consistently provided cutting-edge veterinary care in a caring, compassionate environment. Our clients choose us for the continual high standards of personal care that we provide. Recent years have seen a considerable upgrade in facilities in the treatment area, client records are now fully computerised for efficiency and because the practice is small we can also maintain a personal relationship with our patients.

We know we talk about poisoning risks every Easter, but it’s an important message to keep sharing. Sadly, we’re seeing more cases of poisoning each year.

So, while you’re enjoying your Easter treats, please remember to keep them out of reach of curious paws!

Cats are masters at disguising pain…

Dental disease is extremely common in cats, especially as they get older - yet signs can be difficult to spot.
Regular dental checks help us detect issues like gingivitis, tooth resorption and tartar build-up early, preventing discomfort and long-term complications.
If your cat hasn’t had a recent check, it may be time to book in.

Spring brings brighter days and blooming gardens, but it also comes with hidden hazards for curious cats 🌼🐾

Many common plants and products can cause illness if chewed, ingested, or even brushed against.

⚠️Keep an eye out for these springtime risks and contact your vet if you’re ever concerned about your cat’s health.

Ticks might be tiny, but they can cause big problems 🕷️
From woodland walks to your own garden, ticks can latch onto cats and dogs and may carry diseases like Lyme disease.

Regular checks, safe removal and the right preventative treatment can help keep your cat and dog protected. If you’re ever unsure, reach out to your vet practice as they can advise what to do.

With darker days and chilly weather, pets often spend less time outside – but that doesn’t mean their brains have to slow down! 🧠

Indoor enrichment gives cats and dogs the chance to stay mentally active and express natural behaviours like foraging, playing, exploring and problem-solving. This helps prevent boredom and keeps them calm, confident and content at home.

💡 Ideas to try:
🐾 Hide a few treats around the house for a scavenger hunt
🧩 Use puzzle feeders or snuffle mats to make mealtimes more rewarding
🎾 Teach a new trick or reinforce an old one with positive rewards
🐱 Rotate cat toys regularly and add new textures or climbing options

A little daily enrichment goes a long way in keeping both dogs and cats happy, calm and healthy this winter❄️

As the temperatures drop, our pets need a little extra help staying warm and cosy ❄️

Here are a few simple ways to keep them comfortable this winter:
🛏️ Provide soft, draft-free sleeping spots
🐾 Check paws for ice, snow or salt after walks
🏠 Keep them indoors on chilly days where possible
💧Make sure water bowls don’t freeze

Small changes can make a big difference in keeping them safe and snug this season!
