After struggling more over the last week with her arthritis, we made the sad decision to say goodbye to our beloved Beatrix today at the age of 11.

Born in 2015 at the Downlands Grazing Partnership in Surrey, Bea lost her ear in a dog attack when she was around 8 months old. She came to live with us in 2020 after retiring for her conservation grazing career.

In the 6 years she was with us, she made a lasting impression on all who met her. Despite not being a sheep who enjoyed scratches, her sweet face and cheeky nature made her a firm favourite with staff, volunteers and visitors.

Bea enjoyed trips to the London Sheep Drive to hang out with Herdy # every year, and was the star of our shearing event each summer.

Beatrix’s gorgeous wool will be turned into some lovely keyrings and will be available to purchase at our Winter Fayre on 12th December 🤍

FERRETS AS CAPTURED BY OUR YOUNG FARMERS 🌿

✨Teriyaki and Tabasco recently had a regular health check ✨

🐾 All of our animals undergo regular health checks to make sure they are happy and thriving at the farm.
🐾 These allow us to spot if there is any health issues early on & combat them before they become a bigger issue.
🐾 Pictured are the Young Farmers carrying out checks on our ferrets with farmyard manager Jenny and Youth Engagement Coordinator Jay.
🐾 They have their nails clipped, bodies looked over for lumps and bumps, eyes, nose and mouths checked. They are also weighed and are given salmon oil as a boost for joints and a shiny coat.

Have you met our new arrivals? Jigsaw, Scrabble, and Button are Grey Face Dartmoor sheep, who are very friendly sheep with beautiful curly fleeces. Find them living with Beatrix the Herdwick on the farmyard. 🐑 🐑 🐑

Hazel the Golden Guernsey goat was born at Spitalfields in 2013.
For 13 years, she brought so much joy to the farm and all those that visited her.
She had a gentle, comforting presence, when not cuddling up with her daughter Juniper she would demand cuddles and biscuits in equal measure!
Her arthritis sadly became too painful for her in her last week and we made the difficult decision to say goodbye.
Rest easy, sweet Hazel. You were the best lady, and you will never be forgotten 🤍
