Right now there are whole accounts dedicated to making their dogs react, growl and snap. All seen as funny with hundreds of thousands of followers.

- But what about when the dogs give up with the warnings and cause injury because nothing else worked?

- What about when you want to extend your family but your dog is now unsafe?

- What about when we want someone to help or to go away and our dogs no longer trust anyone?

- What about the underlying emotions of these behaviours and how these dogs can no longer feel safe or relaxed in their wold?

- And what about those fighting to give these dogs a voice while no one is listening.

It’s no surprise dog related deaths and injuries are on the rise when the majority of people see humorous content over torment.

Our dogs are not props to gain more likes. They don’t want to be made to dance, teased, pulled around or antagonised.

Their lives are short, they do everything they can to please us, the least we can do is provide them with a life as free from fear, stress and discomfort as possible.

We have played with the predatory sequence in our dogs to make certain parts more or less prominent, so they could perform jobs for us.
When we look at breed traits and which part of this sequence our dogs like to perform best, we can then look at ways to better fulfil them.

🐾 Find the full video on this and outlets to fulfil each part on the membership. Find the full predatory sequence handout under resources ‘predatory sequence long version’ 🐾

Does your dog have a built-in 5 AM alarm clock? ⏰

Those early wake-up calls can be a struggle (especially when you’re mid-dream and it's cold outside!), but from our dog’s perspective, the day can’t start soon enough.

To them, every sunrise is just another opportunity to be by your side. It’s not about being a pest; it’s about making sure they don't miss a single second of your company.

Sometimes, their 'annoying' habits are actually just huge expressions of love. ❤️

Does your dog wake you up for a sunrise session, or are they a fan of the snooze button? Let me know below! 🐶👇

We are always growing as a species, becoming more self aware and emotionally intelligent.

When we seek to change the way we are raised and question old narratives, we aren’t holding onto pain but looking to do better with the information we were given.

When we ask the question how can I grow from this? Be more empathetic? Do it in a way I can look back and feel proud? Then we are stepping into a new uniqueness.

Sometimes old voices will pop up, sometimes we will have to fight them, question them, unpack them silently. But that’s great strength we can be proud of.

We’ve all been there: demanding perfect calm from our dogs while our own internal “traffic jam” is honking at full volume. 😅

It’s so easy to lose our cool at the small things, yet we often feel so much guilt when our own “big energy” impacts our dogs. The truth is, our dogs are mirror images of our own nervous systems. When we’re frazzled, they feel that “prickly” energy too.

But here’s the thing: you aren’t the only one. We all have moments where we need a little help finding our center again.

That’s why the Trick Woofs membership includes a whole section on handler mindfulness. It’s your dog training and self care App all in one.

Specifically for the busy, sometimes overwhelmed dog guardian, featuring exercises such as:
✨ Heart and throat chakra sequences for release, love and clearer communication.
✨ Grounding meditations to lower your baseline stress.
✨ Powerful affirmations to help replace “handler guilt” with compassion.

When we find our calm, we give our dogs the space to find theirs.

While mistakes happen, it’s just a regular occurrence now that, another dog will run over regardless of lead on, change of direction, communication.

Until you are the one with the nervous, vulnerable, reactive, recovering dog, it’s hard to understand the repercussions of this. But it can make walks unpleasant, the anticipation of what could happen, anxiety inducing.

We deserve our peaceful walks back, our dogs deserve to stay on track with training. We should live in a world where dogs are under control.

I still think about and talk about every dog I ever had. I think everyone does.

They were with us for so much, such big moments. It’s hard to believe sometimes that it wasn’t forever. But in our hearts it is, they shape everything about us and that’s what’s important, that they will always be very much a part of the whole story.
