🐾 Hot Pavement Alert ☀️

With tomorrow set to be especially hot, it feels like a good time for a reminder.

It’s easy to underestimate how quickly pavements and paths heat up, especially when we’re by the coast and there’s a bit of breeze — but dog paws can burn very quickly.

🐾Dog paw pads may seem tough, but they can burn very easily on hot surfaces like paths or roads. Tarmac can reach dangerously high temperatures.🔥

At 25°C (77°F) air temp, roads and paths can hit 52°C (125°F)

At 31°C (87°F) air temp, it can soar to 62°C (143°F) — hot enough to cause burns in less than a minute.

A quick way to test: 🖐 Place the back of your hand on the road or path for 7 seconds. If it’s uncomfortable, it’s not safe for your dog.

Try walking early or late in the day, and stick to shady, grassy routes where you can. Let’s keep our four-legged friends safe and comfy this summer 💛
