🐾 A Little Appreciation Post for Our Wonderful Team ❤️

We share lots of posts about the gorgeous patients who come through our doors, but we thought it was about time we shared a little appreciation for the people behind the scenes too. 🥰

From our vets and nursing team caring for patients, assisting with procedures and giving endless cuddles, to our reception team answering phones, organising appointments and being the friendly faces that greet you when you walk through the door - every single member of our team plays an important part in what we do.

Veterinary practice can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be busy, emotional and sometimes challenging. Through it all, our team continues to support one another and, most importantly, do everything they can for the pets and owners who trust us with their care. ❤️

So this is simply a little post to say thank you to our wonderful team at Chelsfield and Locksbottom. We appreciate everything you do and we're very lucky to have such a caring bunch of people looking after our patients. 🐶🐱🐰🐾

And of course, thank you to all of our lovely clients for trusting us with your precious pets - we know just how much they mean to you. ❤️

🐾 Meet Minnie! 💕

The gorgeous Minnie recently joined us for her spay, and honestly… how could anyone resist that little face?! 🥹😍

Minnie was an absolute sweetheart during her stay and very quickly found herself a new best friend in our lovely RVN Kate, who completely fell in love with her! ❤️ As you can see, Minnie certainly wasn't short of cuddles and attention before and after her procedure. 🥰

Spaying not only prevents unwanted pregnancies but also has some important health benefits, including eliminating the risk of potentially life-threatening uterine infections such as pyometra and helping to reduce the risk of mammary tumours.

The ideal time to spay can vary depending on your dog's breed, age and individual circumstances, so our veterinary team are always happy to discuss what's most appropriate for your pet. 🐾

Minnie recovered beautifully and was soon ready to head home for plenty of rest and, we're sure, lots of spoiling! 💕🏡

Well done, beautiful Minnie - you were an absolute star and it's safe to say you stole Kate's heart! 🥹❤️

🦷🐾 Behind the Scenes: A Dental Day with RVN Kate 🐾🦷

Just look at our wonderful Registered Veterinary Nurse Kate hard at work carrying out a dental descale and polish on this gorgeous kitty! 🐱❤️

Dental procedures are a real team effort, and our Registered Veterinary Nurses play a hugely important role in caring for patients throughout their time with us.

Under the direction of a veterinary surgeon, RVNs can carry out dental scaling and polishing - carefully removing the build-up of plaque and tartar from the teeth and helping to leave them beautifully clean. ✨🦷

And there is a LOT more happening behind the scenes too! During a general anaesthetic, our nursing team continuously monitor their patient, keeping a very close eye on things such as heart rate, breathing, oxygen levels, temperature and anaesthetic depth, while making sure they remain warm, comfortable and safe throughout. ❤️

There are, however, limits to what an RVN can perform. Dental extractions and other procedures classed as acts of veterinary surgery must be carried out by a veterinary surgeon.

Kate did an absolutely fantastic job with this little one's dental - just look at that concentration! 👏🥰

Of course, no dental procedure at All Creatures would be complete without plenty of cuddles afterwards... and judging by that final photo, we think our lovely patient was quite happy with the arrangement! 🥹🐱❤️

Dental disease is extremely common in cats and dogs and isn't always obvious at home. Bad breath, red or bleeding gums, difficulty eating, dropping food or changes in eating habits can all be signs that something isn't quite right.

🐾 Would You Know What’s Normal for Your Pet? 🐾

Nobody knows your pet quite like you do ❤️

You know how much they normally eat, how excited they are for their favourite treat, where they like to sleep, how often they drink and even all those funny little habits that make them them. 🥰

And sometimes, one of the first signs that something isn’t quite right is simply…

“They’re just not themselves.” 🐶🐱🐰

Changes can sometimes be very subtle, so it’s always worth keeping an eye out for things such as:

🐾 Eating or drinking more or less than usual
🐾 Changes in toileting habits
🐾 Sleeping more or seeming unusually quiet
🐾 Reluctance to walk, jump or play
🐾 Changes in weight
🐾 Hiding or behaving differently
🐾 Changes to their coat or grooming habits
🐾 Any new lumps, bumps or swellings

For our smaller furry friends such as rabbits and guinea pigs, changes in eating or passing droppings can be particularly important. They can become poorly very quickly, so please don’t delay in contacting a vet if you’re concerned. 🐰❤️

You never need to feel silly for calling us because something just doesn’t seem right. Sometimes those little changes noticed at home can give us really useful information when assessing your pet.

🐾💚 Meet Teddy! 💚🐾

Just look at that little face! 🥹😍 This gorgeous little gentleman recently visited us for a vaccination restart, and it’s safe to say he completely melted our hearts! 💚

Teddy was an absolute little star for his visit and took everything in his stride - although with a face like that, we’re not sure how we were supposed to get any work done! 🤣🥰

🐾 PET OWNER CONFESSIONS… WE WANT TO HEAR YOURS! 😂🐾

We spend our days hearing all about your pets… and one thing we've learnt is that they are VERY good at getting their own way! 😂❤️

So today we want to know…

👀 Be honest… how far do you go to spoil your pet? 😂🐾

🐶 Give up your side of the bed because they're comfortable?
🐱 Buy them an expensive new bed only for them to sleep in the cardboard box?
🐰 Prepare their dinner more carefully than your own?
🐾 Apologise when you accidentally disturb them in your house?! 😂

There is absolutely NO judgement here… because we're pretty sure most of our team are just as bad! 🤣❤️

The very handsome Simba popped in to see us recently for his worming treatment, and of course we couldn’t resist making a fuss of him while he was here! 🥰 He was an absolute little sweetheart and certainly brightened up our day. ❤️

🐾 Meet Skye! 🐾

The lovely Skye recently came in to see us with an ear infection, and we’re hoping she’s feeling much better now! 💕 She was an absolute superstar while the vet examined her ears and was so brave throughout her visit. 🥹

Skye’s visit is also a great reminder of something you can practise with puppies at home from an early age, getting them comfortable with being handled! 🐶

Gently touching and examining your puppy’s ears, eyes, mouth and paws regularly can help desensitise them to being handled. This can make future vet visits, grooming, nail clips and examinations much less scary as they grow up. 🩺✨

Keep sessions short and positive, with plenty of praise and treats, so being handled becomes just another normal part of life.

Well done, Skye, you were the bravest girl! 🤍🐾

Our Locksbottom team had the absolute pleasure of these little Yorkshire terrier pups in for their 1st vaccinations and health checks Aren’t they adorable?!

🦷 Meet Pepper Pot! 🐾💗

Lovely Pepper came to see us for her dental treatment and was an absolute star patient from start to finish! 🥰

During her procedure, Pepper had two troublesome teeth removed and had a fantastic, smooth anaesthetic. She recovered beautifully and we hope she’s now feeling much more comfortable without those pesky teeth! 🦷✨

Her lovely mum tells us “Pepper Pot” is just one of her many nicknames - which we think suits her perfectly. 🥰 🥹

Well done, Pepper! We hope you’re enjoying lots of cuddles and some nice soft food at home. 💗🐈‍⬛
