It's hard to believe that Piano's kittens are now 6 weeks old!

Bongo, Banjo, Piccolo and Cello are all doing brilliantly and keeping their mum very busy as they grow into confident, playful little characters. We're pleased to report that the whole family is thriving and enjoying life in their temporary home 🥰

While the fun part is watching them grow, we are also starting to brace ourselves for the next stage of their journey. As an independent, self-funded branch, we cover the full cost of preparing cats for adoption, including vaccinations, microchipping, neutering, flea treatment and worming for both mum and kittens.

For Piano and her four babies alone, we estimate these costs will come to £1,070.86 😱

Unfortunately, despite regularly appealing for support, we are often unsuccessful in raising enough donations to cover even a portion of the cost of the cats in our care. Every kitten we rescue represents a significant financial commitment, but one we believe is worth making to give them the best possible start in life ❤️‍🩹

Meet Poppy, the latest cat to arrive in our care ❤️‍🩹

Three year old Poppy was sadly abandoned at a veterinary practice late last week after her owner was facing eviction. Poppy arrived alongside her kitten, and while the veterinary team were able to find a home for the youngster, we were asked to step in and help mum!

As you can imagine, Poppy has had a lot of changes to process in a very short space of time. She is understandably taking things slowly as she settles into foster care, but we are already seeing glimpses of her lovely personality. Despite everything she has been through, Poppy is friendly, enjoys company, and seems to appreciate having people around her.

For now, our priority is giving her the time, space and reassurance she needs to feel safe again. We look forward to sharing more updates as she settles in and we get to know her better 💛

To highlight the Great Big Green Week, taking place until June 14th, we’ve turned all our windows green! 💚

The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest celebration of action for nature and climate. As well as being there for all animals, we are passionate about protecting the environment, and are proud that our charity shops play a role in sustainability.

Through recycling donations, we are reducing the amount of items sent to landfill, and cutting down on the use of fast fashion which accounts for up to 10% of global carbon emissions and 20% of industrial wastewater.

Happy update from Minnie 🐾❤️

Just over two weeks ago, Minnie left our care to begin her new life with her adoptive family, and we are delighted to hear that she has settled in wonderfully well!

When Minnie first arrived with us after being abandoned by her previous owner, she was understandably a little reserved and needed time to build her confidence. We knew that beneath her shy exterior was a loving, affectionate cat just waiting for the right home.

Her new family recently got in touch to let us know that she is doing really well 🥹 She has settled into her new surroundings beautifully and is enjoying all the love, comfort and attention she deserves.

Stories like Minnie's remind us why finding the right match is so important. Thank you to her adopters for giving her a second chance and a place to call home.

This Volunteer Week, we’re shining a light on the incredible work our volunteer fosterers do for our Branch.

Our animals do so much better in a foster home. It means they have dedicated round the clock care;
they can get used to being in a home environment again (away from a boarding facility which can be very stressful for some animals); and it saves us vital funds on boarding fees!

While our cats are in their foster homes we continue to facilitate and fund all medical treatments, but all the time, love and attention comes directly from the kindness of our volunteers which is completely invaluable to us.
