A microchip only works if the details behind it are up to date.

Most cats in London are chipped. Far fewer have contact details that still match where their owner actually lives.

A change of address, a new phone number, a cat rehomed between family members: any of these can break the link between a found cat and the people looking for them.

Check the Chip Day today is a good prompt to spend five minutes on it. Contact the database your cat is registered with, confirm your name, address, phone number and email are current, and update anything that has changed.

If you are not sure whether your cat is chipped, or which database holds their details, we can scan and check for you.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is the most common heart disease we see in cats.

The heart's muscular wall thickens, the space inside shrinks, and the muscle can no longer relax properly between beats.

What is less widely understood is that a thickened heart on a scan does not automatically mean HCM. Some causes are treatable in their own right, and a few are even reversible.

An echocardiogram is the only test that can tell the different forms of feline heart disease apart.

☀️ Keeping cats cool: where the water goes.

Cats drink more readily when water is easy to find and pleasant to use.

Spread several bowls around the home, ideally at least one on each floor, and in multicat households offer one per cat plus a spare.

Wide, shallow glass or ceramic bowls filled close to the brim tend to go down best, as they stop whiskers brushing the sides.

Small changes, steadier hydration.

We're giving new kittens under 4 months a complimentary nurse consult, bookings open August 10th!

Bringing a kitten home is a big moment, and the first few months shape how they feel about the world, including the vets.

To help you both start well, we are offering a complimentary nurse consult for all kittens under 4 months old.

It is a calm, unhurried visit built around your kitten. They get treats and a gentle introduction to the clinic, and you get practical guidance on reading their body language, handling them kindly, and meeting the environmental and social needs that keep cats happy and healthy.

You will also meet our nursing team and see where we work.

Call us on 020 3740 1112 or email [email protected] to reserve a slot.

Please note: The complimentary kitten consult is open to existing and new clients with a kitten under 4 months old. This is not a health check. If you are worried about your kitten, please book a vet consultation.

Better imaging means better care, and that starts with training.

This week our nurses completed a Continuing Professional Development day in ultrasonography with Jack Pye, a Registered Veterinary Nurse, who upskilled the team on imaging the feline chest and tummy.

Our patients can now benefit from advanced triage of emergency cases and in depth post-procedure monitoring

Investing in our team is how we keep raising the standard of feline care. Thank you, Jack. 🐾

Happy Feline Friday to Dio and Diego, two brothers who came in together for their castrations and handled the whole thing with impressive composure. 🐾

Neutering is one of the simplest things you can do for a cat's long-term health, reducing roaming, fighting and the risks that come with both. These two are already back to normal, which is exactly how it should be.

If you'd love to see your own cat featured here, send us a photo by DM. We're always delighted to meet them.

She was days away from opening her own veterinary practice. Then everything changed. 🐾

When Dr Lucy was preparing to launch a clinic of her own, she had a clear vision: a positive culture, exceptional equipment, and the ability to provide outstanding patient care.

Then Dr Jeremy called.

In this video, Dr Lucy shares why she ultimately chose The London Cat Clinic, from working alongside a team of experienced feline vets to having access to specialist equipment and, of course, the opportunity to focus entirely on cats.

As a self-confessed lifelong cat mum, it didn't take long for her to realise she had found the right home.

We're delighted she did!

When Dr Jeremy built The London Cat Clinic, it was for a simple reason: cats deserved better 🐾

In his words, cats had long had a raw deal in practice, too often treated as second-class patients who didn't get the care they truly needed. He wanted to change that, and so a clinic built entirely around cats was born.

Ask him what he's most proud of, and the answer isn't the building or the milestones. It's the team. Over the years, the clinic has filled with people who care about cats exactly as he does, and that, he says, is what sets us apart.

It comes back to the values we stand by: commitment, accountability, trust, and a constant striving for excellence.

Because we're for cats. Only cats 💛
