Paws and co are a kind and effective reward based training for you and your dog, We have Puppy and Dog Training Courses

Paws and co is run by Lesley Everest and Gillian Cooper, who both have many years experience of living with and training puppies and dogs, having worked alongside ADPT accredited Barry Headon of K9 Training since 2002, and running the K9 Training puppy classes independently since 2003. In 2010 Lesley and Gillian decided to set up their own training activities and Paws and Co was born. Lesley and G

illian both hold Animal Care Collage Instructors Certificates, Lesley also holds an APDT Instructors Certificate and both Lesley and Gillian are currently working towards gaining Kennel Club Accredited Instructor Certification. Also helping out at Paws and Co is Dog Trainer Kelly Abraham who has been a trainer with Paws and Co since 2015 and has been attending classes with her own dogs from 2011, since Kelly joined the team she has done many training courses to improve her dog training skills including a Dog first aid course which has given us the chance to offer Dog First Aid Classes

We have experience of introducing new puppies into our lives and continue to love and live with our own dogs, so we know how difficult it can be to get things right! Monday Evenings

🐾 Temptation Alley 🐾

One of our favourite training games here at Waggy Tails Dog Social Club is Temptation Alley!

We always start with toys only (no treats!) and, once everyone has had a couple of successful turns, we level things up by adding some tasty temptations. 😋

As you can see from the video, we still have a little work to do when those treats appear 🤭, but that's all part of the fun and learning. Every dog is progressing at their own pace, and we absolutely love seeing their confidence grow!

✨ How to play Temptation Alley:
🐶 Create a pathway using toys or treats as distractions.
🐶 Keep your dog on lead and ask for a calm walk past the temptations.
🐶 Reward them for choosing to focus on you instead of the distractions.
🐶 Start easy and gradually increase the challenge as your dog becomes more successful.
🐶 Keep sessions short, fun and positive!

Temptation Alley is a fantastic exercise for building focus, impulse control and engagement with your dog — and it's always guaranteed to bring plenty of smiles and laughs! 🐾💙

Unfortunately, it’s that time of year again – grass dart season. 🌾🐾

While they may look harmless, grass darts (grass seeds) can pose a serious risk to our dogs. Their sharp, arrow-like shape allows them to attach to fur and pe*****te the skin, ears, eyes, nose, paws and even migrate internally, causing painful infections and potentially life-threatening complications.

Grass darts can lead to:

• Painful abscesses and skin infections
• Ear infections and damage to the ear canal
• Eye injuries and corneal ulcers
• Sneezing, coughing and nasal infections
• Lameness caused by seeds becoming lodged between the toes
• Internal damage requiring advanced treatment or surgery

Common signs to watch for include excessive licking, head shaking, limping, swelling, sneezing, discharge from the eyes or ears, and sudden signs of discomfort.

Prevention is key. After every walk, especially through long or dry grass, take a few moments to check your dog's paws, ears, eyes and coat. Early detection can make all the difference.

If you notice any of these signs, seek veterinary advice promptly. A tiny grass dart can quickly become a big problem.

we left the assessment equipment set up on Monday so the dogs at Waggy Tails Dog Social Club could put their basic training skills into practice.

They all did an incredible job, and it was wonderful to see the progress they've made. Watching their confidence and skills grow is so rewarding. We're very proud of these clever pups! 🐾✨

Some of the Waggy Tails Dog Social Club pups had the best time at Allseasons paw park Paddle Park on Sunday! 🐾💦☀️

It was so lovely to see the dogs splashing around together, having fun, socialising, and cooling off in the sunshine while their owners enjoyed the day too. These warmer days are definitely better with happy dogs, wagging tails, and plenty of water play!

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a fun afternoon — we can’t wait for the next adventure! 🐶🐕🌊

The next few days are going to be extremely hot, so please take extra care of your dogs.

Dogs can overheat very quickly, and it can become dangerous in just minutes. In temperatures like this, it may take as little as 7 minutes in direct sun for a dog to suffer from overheating.

Try to walk them early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler.
A dog won’t die from missing a walk, but it can die from being walked in extreme heat.

Please keep your pets safe and hydrated ❤️
