Some wonderful feedback our team received today from Tomasz who recently entrusted us with the care of the gorgeous Winston! ❤️🐾

"A massive thank you to the amazing team at The Pet Vet Waltham Forest for taking such wonderful care of our beloved Winston during his surgery. As a family, we were naturally very worried, but the kindness, compassion and professionalism shown by everyone made us feel reassured that Winston was in the best hands.

"A special thank you to Head Vet Katarina and the fantastic Nurses Ellie Lester, Ellie Burdfield, Jenny Peacock, Kate Walker and Laura Bristow for their dedication and exceptional care. Also, thank you to Naeema for her kindness and lovely communication.

"Winston is now recovering well, and we couldn't be happier or more grateful. You are all truly amazing, and it's clear how much you care about the animals you look after. We would highly recommend your clinic to anyone!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!"

🎆 In the lead up to firework season, it's a good idea to establish a pet den! Notice where your pet naturally chooses to retreat and make it comfortable and inviting.

Consider adding:

✅ Their favourite bed or comfortable blankets
✅ Familiar toys and blankets carrying familiar scents
✅ Water nearby so they don’t need to leave their safe space
✅ A favourite chew, treat or enrichment activity, if they want it

The aim is for this to become an established safe space well before fireworks begin. Here's a pet den our surgery team have created to help give you some inspiration!

⚠️ If you're concerned about your pet and the upcoming firework season, please speak to us. We can provide you with lots of easy-to-implement tips and, if required, supplements and medication to help alleviate their anxiety, as well as booking you in with our Pet Behaviourist Rachel Green RVN CertFN MISAP AdvDipCanBeh if needed.

➡️ Supplements available to purchase in our surgery include SereniCare & Zenidog and Zenifel. If you have any questions about these products, our team will be happy to help: https://www.thepetvet.co.uk/contact/?utm_source=facebookandinstagram&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fireworks

Last but not least - the final pet dental health myth we're busting as part of this series. Check out our previous posts to see how many of the others you knew!

Myth #5: “Anaesthesia-free dental cleaning is safe and easy.”

❌ It may look simple, but it has significant limitations.

When a pet is awake, it isn't possible to safely and thoroughly examine every part of the mouth or assess areas below the gumline.

A proper veterinary dental procedure allows the team to:

🦷 Examine the entire mouth
🦷 Assess the teeth and gums thoroughly
🦷 Clean above and below the gumline
🦷 Take dental X-rays when needed
🦷 Identify painful or diseased teeth
🦷 Perform extractions safely when necessary

The goal isn't simply to make the teeth look cleaner — it's to diagnose and treat the problems you can't see.

❤️ Healthy teeth aren't just about a pretty smile. They're about comfort, health and quality of life.

We're currently offering fixed pricing offer on dental procedures:

- Stage 1: £495 (cat) & £595 (dog) for up to 2 hours of treatment, including dental x-rays, charting, scale & polish and extractions.
- Stage 2: £400 for 90 minutes of additional & complex extractions.

🐰 Happy International Rabbit Day! 🧡

Today we’re celebrating our wonderful long-eared friends - and what better way than with this very impressive bunny! 😍 Just look at those ears!

Rabbits can make fantastic companions, but they have their own unique health, dietary and welfare needs. From plenty of hay and space to exercise, to companionship and regular health checks, there’s a lot that goes into keeping a bunny happy and healthy.

We’d love to see the rabbits that brighten up your lives! 🐇 Share a photo of your bunny in the comments.

Happy International Rabbit Day from everyone at The Pet Vet!

The penultimate myth to be busted in our pet dental health series!

Myth #4: “I feed my pet dry food, so that keeps their teeth clean.”

❌ Not necessarily!

Regular dry food is not a substitute for dental care. Most kibble simply breaks apart when chewed and doesn’t provide enough tooth-cleaning action to prevent plaque and tartar.

There are specially formulated dental diets and products that can help reduce plaque — but choosing the right one matters.

🦷 Good dental care takes more than just a bowl of kibble!

Get your pet's teeth in tip-top shape with our fixed price offer on dental procedures:

- Stage 1: £495 (cat) & £595 (dog) for up to 2 hours of treatment, including dental x-rays, charting, scale & polish and extractions.
- Stage 2: £400 for 90 minutes of additional & complex extractions.

🐾 Because you never know when they might need you most… 🧡

Our pets are part of the family, and when they become ill or have an unexpected accident, we want to be able to focus on getting them the care they need.

That’s where pet insurance can make a real difference. Having the right cover in place can help with unexpected veterinary costs and give you peace of mind that, should something happen, financial worries don’t have to be your first thought.

As a fully-accredited Vetsure group, we can exclusively offer our customers 5 weeks cover free of charge. Simply choose whichever level of cover you are interested in taking out and get the first 5 weeks free. If you’re happy, your cover will continue seamlessly!
