Cheeto, Dorito and Wotsit 🫢

There were just 200 golden lion tamarins remaining in the wild before scientists and the international zoo community stepped in to save their species.

In one of the biggest wildlife conservation collaborations ever, 41 Zoos helped reintroduce these monkeys back into the wild to help save them from extinction.

There are now almost 5000 golden lion tamarins in their native Brazil, but with just around 7% of their original habitat remaining our triplets remain an important part of their conservation story.

Protecting one of the rarest frogs on the planet 🐸

There are only around 30 mountain chicken frogs remaining in the wild, which makes the health and success of our frogs critical to saving their species.

Our scientific research from the Zoo and through ZSL is leading the way in advancing understanding of the deadly chytrid fungus, and now thanks to your support we are closer than ever to ending the disease.

Join Team Frog by becoming a member or a regular ZSL supporter 🐸 🀝

We're looking forward to welcoming visitors as usual during the day, but are temporarily closing earlier to help support the wellbeing of our animals, visitors and staff during the hottest part of the afternoon.

Celebrating World Lion Day at London Zoo 🦁 πŸ™Œ

World Lion Day celebrates lions around the globe while raising awareness of the threats they face in the wild and the importance of encouraging support to protect them.

Thanks to conservation efforts and the support of partners, Asiatic lion numbers have risen over recent decades, but the species is still classified as Endangered, with only 900 individuals remaining in India in a single range, the Gir Forest.

We’ve partnered with Liontrust since 2012 to support Asiatic lion conservation, helping us conservation science, species recovery, education, and community engagement πŸ™Œ

Help us protect gorillas by selling your old devices πŸ“± πŸ‘‡

We’ve teamed up with Envirofone to protect gorillas, because one of the best ways we can all support this special animal is by exchanging our old disused electronic devices.

The demand for metals and minerals found in our mobile phones causes the destruction of gorilla habitat, as forests are cleared for huge mines that exploit both people and wildlife.

By trading in and recycling old electronic devices, we can reduce the unsustainable demand on natural resources like lithium and cobalt.

Help make a difference for gorillas with us πŸ‘‰ https://www.envirofone.com/en-gb/zsl?source=zsl&campaign=poster

Giving one of the smallest animals at the Zoo a health check 🩺

Vet Kayleigh talks us through her vet examination of a round-eared sengi.

Although sengis look like rodents, they are actually more closely related to aardvarks and elephants. There are 20 recognised species of sengi and London Zoo is home to two of them.
