Airpets celebrates 60 years of pet travel! 🎂🐾
It all started in 1966, when Mr John Woodward, a farmer, established Airpets with a small number of boarding kennels near Heathrow.
Following the Rabies Act 1974, those kennels became a place of quarantine for pets arriving into the UK. Demand grew, the kennels expanded, and when the Pet Travel Scheme arrived in the 80s, so did international pet travel.
Airpets became an IATA accredited cargo agent with the ability to make flexible airline bookings on behalf of pet owners. This put Airpets are the forefront of developing the booking & health checking process for pets travelling by air cargo from Heathrow.
Today, Airpets is proudly run by 3rd generation family members - Directors Jack and Hugo, alongside Sophie who leads on moves to Australia and animal welfare.
But none of this would mean anything without you. 60 years of customers who trusted us with the animals they love most, through moves, adventures, and new beginnings around the world. That trust means everything to us, and it’s what drives every single journey we take on.
Here’s to 60 years and to every pet and family who’s been part of our story. 💙✈️
