My dogs wouldn't sit there and let me do that???
Totally understandable — many dogs don’t enjoy nail trimming, and it can be a challenge. Here are a few strategies to help:
🐕🦺 Behavior & Training Tips:
Desensitize Gradually:
Touch and hold their paws daily without trimming.
Reward with treats for letting you handle their feet.
Short Sessions:
Just do 1–2 nails per session if needed.
Keep it calm and positive.
Use High-Value Treats:
Something special like cheese, chicken, or peanut butter can be a game-changer.
Distraction:
Use a lick mat with peanut butter stuck to a wall or floor.
Or have a helper gently distract them with treats.
Try After Exercise or a Bath:
Dogs are calmer when tired.
After a bath, nails are softer and easier to trim.
