🍂🐾 HELLO OCTOBER FROM VETCALL! 🐾🍂

As the evenings get darker and the weather starts to change, there are a few simple things you can do to keep your pets happy, healthy and safe this autumn. ❤️

🪱 Keep flea & worming treatments up to date
Cooler weather doesn’t mean parasites disappear! Fleas can continue to thrive indoors, while worms remain a year-round risk. Make sure your pet’s preventative treatment is up to date and speak to us if you’re unsure what they need.

🎃 Be careful with Halloween treats
Chocolate, sweets and some sugar-free products can be dangerous for pets. Keep all treats well out of reach and remember that Halloween decorations can also be tempting to curious cats and dogs!

🌧️ Dry off after muddy walks
Wet coats and damp paws can lead to discomfort and skin irritation. Give your pet a good towel dry after walks and check between their toes for mud, grit or anything they may have picked up.

🎆 Start preparing for fireworks
Don’t wait until Bonfire Night! If your pet is nervous around loud noises, now is a great time to start preparing. Create a safe, quiet space, keep windows and doors secure and consider speaking to us early if your pet needs extra support.

🍁 And remember… autumn can bring hidden hazards!
Conkers, acorns, mushrooms and certain plants can all cause problems if eaten. If you think your pet has swallowed something they shouldn’t, contact your vet for advice as soon as possible.

Have a happy and healthy October from everyone at VETCall Veterinary Surgery! 🐶🐱💚💙

📞 If you’re ever unsure about your pet’s health or preventative care, give our team a call — we’re always happy to help.

🦷✨ Rudy’s Dental Day! ✨🦷

Rudy came in to see us today for a dental descale — and what a good boy he was! 🥰🐾

Regular dental care is so important for our pets, as plaque and tartar can build up over time and lead to sore gums, bad breath and dental disease. A professional dental clean helps keep those pearly whites looking (and feeling!) their best. 🪥✨

Rudy was very happy to have his teeth given some TLC, and he’s now ready to show off that lovely smile! 😁

💬 Does your pet enjoy having their teeth brushed? Or do they run for the hills as soon as they see the toothbrush? 😂

Tell us in the comments! 👇🐾

🐾 Pickles’ Spay Day! 🐾

Beautiful Pickles came to see us for her bitch spay 💕 She was such a good girl and our team took great care of her throughout her procedure.

Neutering is an important part of responsible pet ownership. For female dogs, spaying prevents unwanted pregnancies and eliminates the risk of pyometra (a potentially life-threatening infection of the womb). It can also reduce the risk of certain reproductive diseases and cancers. Your vet can advise you on the most appropriate timing for your individual pet.

💙 Pickles is also a member of our VIP Membership!

Being a VIP member means Pickles’ family received 10% off her neutering — and that’s just one of the benefits!

Our VIP Membership includes:
✨ 10% off everything
💉 Yearly vaccinations
🐛 Flea & worm treatment
🐾 Plus much more!

Want to know more about our VIP Membership and what’s included? Speak to a member of our team — we’d be happy to help you find the right plan for your pet. 🐶🐱

Get well soon, Pickles! 💕🐾

🐾🌍 WORLD RABIES DAY — 28 SEPTEMBER 🌍🐾

Rabies might feel like a disease far away from the UK, but for pets travelling overseas, it’s something every owner should be aware of. 🐶🐱✈️

🇬🇧 Here in the UK, rabies vaccination isn’t part of routine pet vaccination. However, if you’re planning to travel abroad with your pet, a rabies vaccination may be required as part of the pet travel requirements.

Rabies is a serious and usually fatal disease that affects the nervous system and can spread between animals and people. Thankfully, it is preventable through vaccination. 💉❤️

🌍 Travelling with your pet?
Make sure you plan well in advance — depending on where you’re travelling, your pet may need:
• A microchip
• A rabies vaccination
• The correct pet travel documentation
• Additional treatments or requirements depending on your destination

📅 Don’t leave it until the last minute! Pet travel requirements can take time to arrange.

If you’re thinking about taking your pet abroad, speak to our team before you book your trip so we can help you understand what your pet will need. 🐾

Have you ever travelled abroad with your pet? 🌍🐕🐈

🐾💗 Teddy’s Spay Day! 💗🐾

Say hello to gorgeous Teddy! 🥰 She came in to see us for her spay and, as you can imagine, she was very happy to receive lots of cuddles and attention from the nursing team! 🐶💕

She was such a good girl throughout her stay and was soon ready to head home for some well-deserved rest and TLC. 🏡✨

Spaying your pet can have a number of health benefits and also helps prevent unwanted litters. 🐾

💬 Can you guess what Teddy’s favourite part of her visit was — the cuddles, the treats or going home?! 😂👇

We’d love to hear from you! ❤️

Frankie’s Spay Day! 💗🐾

Say hello to the adorable Frankie the Dachshund! 🥰 Frankie came in for her spay procedure, and she was an absolute angel. 🌟🐶

Spaying your female dog is an important part of responsible pet care and can offer several health and welfare benefits, including:

💕 Prevents unwanted pregnancies — helping reduce the number of unwanted puppies.

🩺 Prevents a pyometra — a potentially life threatening infection of the uterus that can occur in unspayed females.

🎀 Reduces the risk of mammary tumours — with the level of protection influenced by the age and timing of spaying.

🌸 Stops seasons — meaning no more bleeding or the behavioural changes associated with being in season, and no risk of accidental mating.

🏡 Supports long-term health and welfare — while the ideal timing for spaying can vary between individual dogs depending on factors such as breed, size and lifestyle.

Every dog is different, so the best time to spay should be discussed with your vet, who can take your pet’s individual needs into account.

We’re delighted to see Frankie safely through her procedure and wish this gorgeous girl a speedy recovery! 💗🐾

Get well soon, Frankie! 🥰
