🦠 Giardia – one of the most common causes of diarrhoea in dogs and cats.
Giardia is a microscopic parasite that lives in the small intestine and can cause digestive problems in both dogs and cats.
Common signs include:
🐾 Diarrhoea (which may come and go)
🐾 Soft or mucus-covered stools
🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Weight loss
🐾 Poor growth in puppies and kittens
Some pets may carry Giardia without showing any signs, but they can still spread the parasite to other animals through contaminated faeces, water or the environment.
🔬 A simple in-house faecal test allows us to detect Giardia quickly, so treatment can begin as soon as possible.
Good hygiene and prompt diagnosis are key to preventing reinfection and protecting other pets in the household.
If your dog or cat has persistent digestive issues, it’s worth checking whether Giardia could be the cause.

Tiny patient, big benefits. 💙🐶
Meet Tibby, a 1-year-2-month-old Cavapoo, who recently underwent a laparoscopic spay (LapSpay) at Pawvet Clinic.

Unlike a traditional spay, laparoscopic surgery uses tiny incisions and allows excellent visualisation of the ovaries, resulting in:
✨ Less pain
✨ Smaller incisions
✨ Faster recovery
✨ A quicker return to normal activities
Tibby was up and feeling bright shortly after her procedure, and we’re delighted with how well she’s recovering. 💙
At Pawvet Clinic, we’re proud to offer advanced minimally invasive surgery to help our patients recover more comfortably.

A tiny patient, a big procedure and a minimally invasive solution. 💙🐶
Meet Max Coco Grier, a lovely Shih Tzu × Pomeranian who came to Pawvet for advanced surgery.

Max was diagnosed with a scrotal hernia containing one of his testicles, making this a more complex procedure than a routine castration.

Using laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, our surgical team repaired the hernia and safely completed his castration through just a few small incisions.

The benefits of minimally invasive surgery include:

✨ Smaller incisions
✨ Less post-operative pain
✨ Reduced surgical trauma
✨ Faster recovery
✨ Excellent visualisation for delicate procedures

We’re delighted that Max is recovering so well and wish him a smooth and speedy recovery. Thank you to his family for trusting us with his care. 💚

At Pawvet Clinic, we’re proud to offer advanced laparoscopic procedures, giving our patients the benefits of modern veterinary surgery.

Meet Blade ❤️🐾
This handsome 1.7-year-old Rottweiler recently visited Pawvet after being attacked by another dog.

At first glance, bite wounds don’t always look dramatic. The real damage, however, is often hidden beneath the skin. Teeth can create deep pockets of tissue trauma, increasing the risk of infection and leaving wounds that require careful surgical management.

After a thorough examination, Blade underwent surgery to clean and repair multiple bite wounds on his left forelimb. Thanks to prompt treatment and plenty of TLC from our team, he’s healing beautifully and getting back to his happy self. 💚

This case is a great reminder that any dog bite should be checked by a veterinarian, even if the wound seems small. Early treatment can make a huge difference to healing and reduce the risk of serious complications.

Blade was an absolute gentleman throughout his stay with us, and we wish him a smooth and speedy recovery. We can’t wait to see him back for his check-up with that big Rottie smile! 🐶

Heatstroke in pets is a true emergency ☀️🐾
Heatstroke doesn’t only happen in a hot car. Dogs and cats can overheat during walks, play, warm weather, or in poorly ventilated spaces and it can become life-threatening very quickly.
Pets at higher risk include:
• flat-faced breeds
• overweight pets
• very young or older animals
• pets with thick coats or breathing problems
Signs to watch for:
• excessive panting
• drooling
• weakness or wobbliness
• vomiting or diarrhoea
• red gums
• collapse or confusion
If you suspect heatstroke:
➡️ move your pet to a cool, shaded place
➡️ start cooling them immediately with cold water and airflow
➡️ contact a vet straight away
The sooner a pet is cooled, the better the chance of recovery.

Every breath matters. ❤️
Bella, an 11-year-old Pug, was struggling with the effects of BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome), making everyday life far more difficult than it should have been.
Following BOAS surgery and a tonsillectomy, Bella is now breathing more comfortably and enjoying a better quality of life.
Seeing patients like Bella thrive again is one of the most rewarding parts of our job.
If your dog snores excessively, struggles with exercise, breathes noisily, or seems to tire easily, they may benefit from a BOAS assessment.
