π A difficult day for our blue-eyed beauty, Melodyβ¦ ππΎ
Sometimes, being a breeder means facing moments we never wish to experience. Moments when our hearts are heavy, our minds are full of worry, and we must make difficult decisions for the sake of the little souls who trust us completely.
This morning, we noticed several wet spots on the floor, some reddish and others containing purulent discharge. It was an alarming sign that something was wrong. A healthy cat should not be bleeding or showing such abnormal discharge, and we knew we couldn't afford to wait.
Everything happened quickly. We organised an urgent visit to the veterinary clinic, where Melody underwent an ultrasound examination. Then came the diagnosis no breeder ever wants to hear: pyometra β a potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus.
Thankfully, Melody had the open form of pyometra, which generally allows infected material to drain from the uterus. Although this can make the condition easier to recognise, it is still a serious medical emergency that requires immediate treatment.
There was no time for hesitation. We had to make a difficult decision, but deep down, we knew what was right. β€οΈ
Melody's health and life will always come before everything else. No breeding plans, no dreams, no expectations can ever be more important than the well-being of one of our beloved cats. The decision was made to perform an emergency spay, giving Melody the best chance to recover and live a healthy, happy life.
Thankfully, Melody made it through the surgery successfully! ππ
A heartfelt thank you to Dr Peter, who was incredibly kind, professional and reassuring throughout this frightening experience. And to the entire veterinary team who cared for our precious girl β you deserve a medal. π
Your dedication, compassion and care mean more to us than words can express.
Melody had to remain in the hospital for observation and continued treatment, and although our hearts ache knowing she cannot be home with us just yet, we know she is in good hands.
Today, we are reminded once again that responsible breeding is not only about beautiful kittens, bloodlines or show results. It is about love, responsibility, and having the courage to make the right decision, even when it hurts.
Melody, our beautiful blue-eyed girl, you have already given us a fright we will never forget. Now, all we wish for is to see you back on your paws, feeling better, purring happily, and looking at us with those gorgeous blue eyes. π
Get well soon, our precious Melody. We love you more than words can say. πΎπ
We will share more updates about Melody's recovery very soon. Thank you to everyone who is keeping our girl in their thoughts. β€οΈ
