When did it become ok for one dog's needs to outweigh another's?
I had two incidents today where another owner put us in a compromised position.
Owner 1 was absolutely lovely, and Penny and his dog were having a conversation at a distance with some nice body language.
But the owner then enclosed into our space because his dog 'had to say hello'.
Neither Penny or I really got a say in this, I even tried to created a little space. However, the interaction was happening before I got a chance to open my mouth.
Owner 2 was not so polite, on our Mindful Meet up and let his big dog come over after a polite request to pop his dog on lead. We were met with verbal abuse and a statement of don't bring your dog out if they aren't socialised π
I mean there are lots of reasons for not having dogs off lead, or letting other dogs approach them for a start!
But on both occasions the other dogs were getting priority or their needs met first, without thinking about the other owner or dog (us).
This is your reminder to please be kind and considerate and think about the other owner / walker too. πΎ
