Mossburn Community Farm Mossburn is an animal sanctuary home to approx. 100 animals. We are open to visit every day 10am-4pm

Mossburn Community Farm was originally set up in 1990 and now cares for a wide range of misused, abused, unwanted and neglected animals as well as offering spaces where possible to animals whose owners can no longer look after them. We currently have around 100 animals including horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, poultry and more! Our animals are as free range as we can allow them to be so we provide a great peaceful environment where visitors can get up close to the animals. As well as the animal side of things, Mossburn provides support for young people and adults with additional needs (physical, emotional, behavioural and mental) via our Animal Assisted Therapy programme, offering work experience placements, our weekly Mossburn Experience Group (where individuals with additional needs gain life skills and help to care for the animals), and more.

We sadly said goodbye to two elderly members of our sheep flock this week.
Longinus had been suffering with arthritis in recent months and had begun to struggle to get up in the last week or so and spending most of his time lying down. With the harsh winter weather on the way, our vet agreed it was time to let him go. He was a lovely, well natured sheep.
Zorro had been out of sorts for a few days, isolating himself from the flock and just a bit unhappy despite still eating well. With the vet due, we had him checked over and sadly a mass could be felt in his abdomen. Zorro was a lovely looking boy with a fine set of horns but wasn't too keen on humans although he did mellow a bit in his old age.

Looking for something to keep the kids occupied for a while over the school holidays? We're open every day 10am-3pm for visitors to come and see the animals 🐴🐮🐷🐑🐰🐐 Entry is free although donations towards the animals' care are always appreciated 😊

Lavender 🥰 is our lovely Angora goat. She is often mistaken for a sheep, especially when she's due shearing but she is definitely a goat 😄
Visitors may sometimes notice a lump on one side of Lavender's face, this is due to a quite severe dental issue which means chewed up hay/grass balls up in her cheek. She has her teeth filed once a year by our equine dentist under sedation but there's a limit to what can be done unfortunately. It doesn't bother her too much and we have the lovely job of removing the ball of soggy food twice a day 😷😆

Love animals and enjoy being outdoors? Then our Autumn Holiday Club is the perfect way to spend your school holidays!

Join us for a fun-filled day on the farm, where children will have the chance to get creative with seasonal crafts, enjoy outdoor activities and spend time getting to know some of our animals - from cows and rabbits to all the other characters who call the farm home!

Our Autumn Club is a great opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, learn something new, make new friends and, most importantly, have lots of fun along the way. With plenty to see and do, there’s sure to be something for everyone!

🍁 Suitable for children aged 6–14 years.

🌦️ Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.

🥪 Please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink.
