Hyfforddiant Cŵn Tanat Dog Training

Listen to those sniffing sounds! 🐽

Honey worked hard on her loose lead walking today, but dedicated sniff breaks are important during sessions. Letting dogs process their environment resets their brain, lowers arousal and sharpens focus for the rest of their training.

Gwrandewch ar y synnau arogli yna! 🐽

Gweithiodd Honey yn galed ar ei cherdded ar dennyn llac heddiw, ond mae egwyliau arogli pwrpasol yn bwysig yn ystod sesiynau. Mae gadael i gŵn brosesu eu hamgylchedd yn ailosod eu hymenydd, yn gostwng eu cyffro ac yn gloywi eu ffocws am weddill eu hyfforddiant.

🐶 Not all dogs are foodies... and that's okay!

Just like people, every dog has their own preferences. Some will do anything for a piece of chicken, while others are happiest chasing a toy, having a cuddle, or simply being allowed to sniff that interesting patch of grass!

Understanding what your dog finds rewarding is one of the best ways to make training fun, effective and motivating. 🐾

👇 Tell us below... what reward does your dog love the most? We'd love to know!

Image description: A white APDT UK infographic titled "What's your dog's favourite reward?" with a smiling beagle at the bottom centre. The graphic highlights four different types of rewards that dogs may enjoy during training:
Food – Tasty treats, kibble or something extra special.
Toys – Playtime with their favourite toy or a game they love.
Praise – Kind words, enthusiasm and tactile fuss.
Exploring – The chance to sniff, explore and simply be a dog.
A yellow starburst asks, "What motivates your dog the most during training?" Paw prints and playful illustrations decorate the design, with the APDT UK logo in the bottom right corner.

☀️ A quick reminder that hot weather and dog walks don't always go hand-in-hand.

Our temperature chart is here to help you decide when it's best to head out, and when it's better to swap walkies for indoor enrichment, frozen treats, and a shady snooze!
