Last night's 6.30pm life skills class was great.

The session involved alot of play. Play comes in such a wide variety of games, and different games will motivate your dog. What motivates your dog can depend on many factors, such as age and breed.
Tug is always a good starting point as it simulates part of a dogs predatory motor pattern.
Here's a list of what games you could explore with your dog.
● Chase games
● Grab and shake games
● Retrieve/Hold games
● Find it/Scent games.
● Rip it up games such as boxes

It also builds that bond between you and your dog. It builds up your dogs ability to concentrate on you and learn that good and exciting things happen when they stay with you.
It also builds your motor skills as playing tug whilst on a lead is certainly a skill for the handler!

This evenings 6.30pm class should be outside, the rain is predicted to slow down, and the grass has been cut 🤩.

Here's a training walk me a Pip did in Aberaeron this morning, a mix of loose lead walking on pavements, paths, and grass. A little walk on the beach added as a bonus and some settle training, whilst I sat on the bench.
We didn't set off with an aim to get from A to B. We focused on what gave Pip the best training opportunity on the day. Learning whilst enjoying.

Training walks with Clawdd Melyn K9 don't always have to be with you.
If you would like me to do training walks whilst you are at work, out with the family, etc, then send me a message.
**I currently can't offer training walks to large dogs or persistent pullers as I'm still in recovery from my shoulder surgery. Please contact me for suitability. **

When out on your daily walk, ensure you reward for the moments you want repeating.
If we don't praise and reward for check ins, staying close and returning to you, then they may start going further afield with their adventures. There's plenty of rewards in the environment. We need to make sure that being with us is rewarding and worthwhile. This comes from building a relationship but also recognising them little moments of enangement. Ensure you celebrate all the good things.
Give it a go on your next walk!

The 6.30pm class this week made us all work, laugh, and introduce new ideas this week as adolescence was in full swing. Therefore, the photos were minimal and totally absent for some 🐕, but the progress and focus ended 🌟.
Dog training progress is not quick success in a lovely linear pattern. It is success over a long period of time, with challenges and setbacks and celebrating those little wins.
Coming to training every week, I see and explain what progress I see, and celebrate with you, especially when you are in the thick of it.
All my clients compliment each other and communicate during sessions to help each other succeed.

Here's a few photos of Ceti having a go at indication on a 2p coin, continuing his scent journey.
Also, half a shot 🤣 of Ruby doing some great settled work around people and dogs.

Would you like to start enjoying your walks with your dog? Or would you just like to come and have a regular training session each week with your dog.
Contact me to join the 6.30pm class at Tregroes on a Thursday evening. £10 for 45 minutes.

How to keep a 3 year old and a spaniel busy at the beach.

One hide the kong, one find the kong and a bit of paddling and snacks in between.

Also, how do you get the same 3 year old to do a couple of days of school...promise a beach trip on a Thursday 😆

6.30pm class - It looks like this evening there's a little gap in the weather, so I'm hoping for an outdoor session. Just remember your wellies and coat for a bit of drizzle.

7.30pm week 1 puppies we will be indoors 😆

Looming forward to seeing you all this evening
