Last night's 6.30pm life skills class was great.
The session involved alot of play. Play comes in such a wide variety of games, and different games will motivate your dog. What motivates your dog can depend on many factors, such as age and breed.
Tug is always a good starting point as it simulates part of a dogs predatory motor pattern.
Here's a list of what games you could explore with your dog.
● Chase games
● Grab and shake games
● Retrieve/Hold games
● Find it/Scent games.
● Rip it up games such as boxes
It also builds that bond between you and your dog. It builds up your dogs ability to concentrate on you and learn that good and exciting things happen when they stay with you.
It also builds your motor skills as playing tug whilst on a lead is certainly a skill for the handler!
