2025 season award evenings!!
I am so incredibly proud of sharqui and how much me and him have grown and learnt together, we both started as amateur’s to endurance who had never done a competition with Endurance GB, but in the 2 years me and Sharqui have been competing together, we have achieved things i wouldn’t have imagined 2 and a half years ago when we first got Sharqui that we’d ever achieve as much as we have, like doing an actual graded ride or doing our first 40km, 64km, 80km and 100km and doing The golden horseshoes 60th anniversary linear route, especially as our first 80km together, we even made it in the North West inter-regional team at Cirencester, despite pulling out the day before due to the severe weather conditions, and finally qualifying for The Red dragon open championships 64km and finishing 2nd place, all these achievements this year lead me to the awards me and Sharqui have won nationally and in Derbyshire group.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Red Dragon 2025!! 🐉This weekend me and sharqui headed to The Red Dragon Festival of Endurance to compete in the 65km GER National Open Championships!!

We both absolutely loved this ride and the atmosphere on the venue was so lovley and calm!! The venue was lovely with perfect facilities for both me and sharqui, I have to admit I think we both didn’t want to go home 🤣🫣

Unfortunately sharqui got slightly cold at the end and had a high heart rate of 53 just missing out on first place by one point, but, we did come second, which I am so so incredibly happy with and totally not what I was expecting with the heart rate + i am absolutely chuffed to bits to have a horse like sharqui, who like always, tried his absolute hardest and succeeded at what we came to do!!

The championships here at Red dragon has been my bucket list all year and I am so so grateful that we qualified to go and did it!!
Maybe next year it’ll be the advanced championship 🫣🫣😉

Humongous Thankyou to John and Jane for making this ride as spectacular as it was and for making it such a lovely experience and a lovely atmosphere!!And thankyou to the team of volunteers, vets and other organisers that helped make this ride special!!

I was so so excited and proud for Sharqui and I to be selected to represent the 65km class as part of the North West Inter-Regional Team this weekend….

however after lots and lots of thought and guidance we have made the very difficult decision to withdraw Sharqui from Cirencester this weekend, I’m just not happy to put him through this event or even travel him in this extreme heat and I would not be able to live with myself if something were to happen to him as a consequence of the heat.

Those of you who know Sharqui know he would jump off a cliff for me if I asked him to and he would give his 💯 this weekend even to his detriment.

I’m awfully sorry to let the team down but I have to do what I think is the best for him xx

There’s always another ride and but not another horse like Sharqui ☺️

Introducing a member of the Interregionals team representing the North west of Cheshire Group of Endurance GB, Lancashire Group of Endurance GB and Endurance GB - Derbyshire Group we have young rider Hollie.

Hey 👋 I’m Hollie Brewell I’m nearly 14 years old and I’ve been riding in endurance since I was 4 years old

My horse is Cotswolds Shaquille aka ‘Sharqui’. He’s an 8year old Arab i have owned for almost 2 years. Before I owned him his world was mostly the dressage arena having never done endurance but turns out he absolutely loves it!!

We are competing in the 65km GER both for the team but also hoping we might just scoop a good result to get through round 2 of the national championship qualifiers too!🤞🤞

I’m really looking forward to it!!

Golden horseshoe 2025!
Crikey what a challenging ride!
Mine and sharqui’s first 80km and gosh did we choose the ride for it.
As we set of sharqui found all the horses going past us very exciting (barley ever done this before 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️) and decided to get a bit of a jig jog on, I mean trying to canter down the steep road and struggling to slow him down 😅
After a few minutes we finally settled down and got on to a feild, where we had a lovely canter and I settled after seeing sharqui had finally settled 😌.
We eventually catch Nichola and Melanie, and as me and sharqui are going through the gate, he gets his stirrup stuck on the inside bolt on the gate 😓 luckily he was a very good lad while I got off and stood still while I pulled the stirrup of the gate,!
We go past nichola and Mel and continue, a few miles later we catch Philippa and Mary, we ride into the vet gate us three and we all pass!
We continue on and trot where we can, eventually seing the final feild, we all cantered in right up until we get into the venue!
We all go off to our trailers and start sloshing, we start sloshing sharqui but he got quite cold, his heart rate kept reaching 70 and over 🤦‍♀️ we left it right to the last second and had put his pjs on (his fleece rug and heavy weight) and his heart rate monitor was still reading 70’s, we took it off and walked down to the vetting where he stood very still very chilled out.. his finishing heart rate was luckily 43!!!!
We were all so shocked but very happy, and after all the checks sharqui even gave the vet some kisses 🥰🥰
Overall a beautiful but challenging ride!
Thankyou to all the organisers, helpers, photographers and sponsors for helping make the ride happen!
Thankyou Maggie Pattinson and Shelley Bates for organising the ride and making it so special 😊
Thankyou to Philippa and Mary for letting me ride with you both 😊
Thankyou Angela and Barry for supporting me and crewing me!
Thankyou Susi for coming up to see me at the end!!
And thankyou Libby for recognising our boots and returning them to us 🙏😁
We ended our lovely weekend stay with North Devon pony glamping
And a trip to porlock and lynton where we looked around a very interesting war museum and got some chips 🍟

I can’t believe it, all I was going for was a finish and sharqui all safe, but I got 2nd and I’m absolutely thrilled to bits!!

Not only did Young Rider Hollie complete her first 80km on the challenging linear route at Golden Horseshoe Ride but she came second in the performance formula. Well done Hollie and Sharqui’s adventures!

The car is loaded ready for Golden Horseshoe Ride next weekend as Hollie and Sharqui’s adventures tackles the special 60th anniversary 80km linear route (50miles)!! This will be their 1st attempt at this distance after 2x 64km rides this year…

This has been a bucket list ride for me for years and gutted I’m not able to do it myself but Maisie and I will be hopefully doing the 40km on Sunday….

However looking at the car I don’t know how on earth we would have squeezed everything in for both horses for one day!!!

Whatever happens I’m so so proud of Hollie and Sharqui qualifying for this iconic ride and her dedication to have a go at it 💪 🥰
