π An Important Announcement from Craven's Crawlies π
This is without a doubt the hardest post I have ever had to write since starting Craven's Crawlies.
After a great deal of thought and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to close Craven's Crawlies at the end of 2026. Due to increasing family and work commitments, I am no longer able to dedicate the time and energy that this business, and more importantly my animals, deserve.
Firstly, I want to reassure everyone that all existing bookings will be honoured. However, I will not be taking any new bookings from this point forward.
When I first started Craven's Crawlies, I honestly never imagined how far it would go. I simply had a passion for animals and a dream of sharing them with others. What started as a small collection and a big idea turned into an incredible journey that has lasted over 6 years.
Throughout that time, I have been privileged to meet so many amazing people. One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been helping people overcome their fears of animals such as spiders, scorpions, snakes, and lizards. Seeing people gain confidence and a better understanding of these misunderstood creatures has meant the world to me.
I have loved sharing not only my animals, but also my knowledge and passion for them. My goal has always been to help people appreciate and understand these incredible creatures rather than fear them.
Many people only see the events and parties, but there is a huge amount of work behind the scenes. Preparing the animals, ensuring their welfare, travelling, and organising events takes a significant amount of time and dedication. Sadly, I can no longer commit to that level while balancing my other responsibilities.
Although this decision breaks my heart, I know it is the right one for both myself and my animals. They deserve a less stressful lifestyle, and I need to focus on my family and other commitments.
Looking back, I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. My very first booking featured just 2 stick insects, 2 tarantulas, 1 bearded dragon, 2 African land snails, and 1 scorpion.
Today, thanks to your support, the collection has grown to include: π¦ 2 Bearded Dragons π 2 Pythons π 64 African Land Snails π¦ 1 Gecko π¦ 5 Scorpions π· 1 Funnel-Web Spider π· 1 Giant Vinegaroon πΏ 5 Stick Insects π 1 Giant Millipede π· 1 Wolf Spider π· Over 65 Tarantulas
What started as a hobby became something far bigger than I ever imagined. I truly feel I have achieved what I set out to do: helping people appreciate these amazing animals and creating unforgettable experiences for so many families, schools, parties, and events.
To everyone who has booked me, supported me, followed my journey, recommended me, shared my posts, or simply taken an interest in my animalsβthank you. Your support has meant more than you will ever know.
I've had an amazing 6-7 years, made memories that will last a lifetime, and met some incredible people along the way.
Saying goodbye is incredibly difficult, but I will always be grateful for the support you've shown Craven's Crawlies from day one.
Thank you for everything.
Richard - Craven's Crawlies
