There's just something about big breed dogs...and Arya is no exception a true connoisseur of massage she knows what she wants and just let's me crack on, with the occasional disapproving look when I find the ouch bit , usually followed by a long contented sigh when its been eased.

She has also mastered the art of indicating where the treat stash is without bothering to get up , a regal point of the head and a look of get me one servant is all it takes🙈

Reef, an absolutely gorgeous spaniel, not always very sure what's happening but absolutely sure its all gonna be ok if his humum is there.

Gets a bit distracted, especially when we find a sore bit, goes for a wander till he thinks we've forgotten about it and jumps back up to start again.

Reef is a busy spaniel, from agility to mantrailing to just being a good looking dude he does it all. However his humum noticed he was walking a bit like John Wayne 🤠 so got him booked in, and as well as a tight back he also had some very tight muscles in his hind legs, this was his second session and he was definitely feeling better💜

How gorgeous is wee Mabel💜 this beautiful pup was booked in for a full massage. There's nothing wrong with Mabel but as a toung active agility dogs her humum felt it wise to get her checked, especially as she's been doing lots of short sessions of weave practice

The added benefit of doing massage when there's nothing wrong is the dog gets used to the different techniques we use,so when they do have an injury they know what to expect!

And despite the photographic evidence Mabel.did actually manage to.lie on her side and relax for at least a few seconds

Well what can I say about Ron...apart from he loves his massage now!

Despite his small stature, and a slightly dubious conformation , Ron is a very active little terrier. He goes at life like a true terrier, including his agility where he doggidly decided bashing into a jump wing was preferable to going round it🙈

The results were one very stiff and sore neck.

Ron reluctantly got on the table, reluctantly lay down and looked like a barrel, body tense and tight, legs sticking straight out...until I worked on his neck. And just like that the eyes closed, the body relaxed and the legs floated down and he snored a little bit 💜

Another great day at Harburn Dog Academy , and another day with no photos🙈

To be fair nobody was up for staying still so it was probably for the best.

3 active agility dogs and one retired cani cross dog, with issues ranging from a few little niggly trigger points to managing long term arthritis.



Even my guys were not up for posing but do love a zoom in the field

SUPPLEMENTS

I often get asked about what supplements I use so over the next few weeks I'll share a few that I use and why.

When adding things into your dogs diet always do your own research and discuss with your vet.

We'll start with hyaluronic acid. Thanks to a very lovely physio who suggested this supplement.

I use it for all 3 of my dogs, to be honest I havent seen much of a difference in the younger 2 but what a huge difference in CCCM dog Belle.

Hyaluronic acid
What is it.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a complex sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the body, especially in the eyes, skin and joints. It attracts and retains moisture.

How does it work?
HA naturally occurs in the synovial fluid that surrounds joints and helps keep them lubricated. Evidence shows that individuals with osteoarthritis have reduced levels of HA in the synovial fluid which increases friction in the joint causing deterioration of the protective cartilage, inflammation and pain. HA supplementation seeks to restore the levels of HA in the joint.

What I've seen in CCM dog Belle
Belle suffered with tremors in all her legs due to her muscles tiring and pain in her joints with her arthritis, within 2 weeks these had all but disappeared. Her mobility improved and her coat is looking amazing!

We are seeking a motivated, professional therapist who is passionate about canine rehabilitation and committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. The successful candidate will initially work 1–2 days per week within our dedicated canine rehabilitation clinic in Livingston, West Lothian.

The Role

The role will include:

• Delivering individualised canine hydrotherapy using an underwater treadmill

• Monitoring patient response and progress and adapting treatment appropriately

• Maintaining accurate and professional clinical records

• Communicating effectively and professionally with clients and veterinary professionals

• Working with a varied rehabilitation caseload

• Maintaining high standards of patient care, safety and welfare

Essential Requirements
