The practice has an onsite laboratory which allows us to run many tests within the practice which means rapid results for you and your pet. These include:

• Blood tests including: biochemistry, haematology, electrolytes, thyroid, and many more
• Urine analysis
• Skin sample analysis

Our theatres are fully equipped and cater for all ages and types of domestic animal. Should your pet need hospitalisation we have dedicated cat, dog and exotic wards available to allow your pet’s stay to be as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

🥬 The story of Cabbage Jr. – the tiny ferret with a big fight! 🦦💚

Cabbage Jr. came to see us at just 3 months old and, sadly, he was feeling very poorly. When we examined him, we found that his PCV was just 10%.

But what does that mean? 🤔

PCV (packed cell volume) tells us the percentage of blood made up of red blood cells. Cabbage’s was very low, meaning he was severely anaemic and needed a blood transfusion.

Luckily, there was a very special little hero waiting in the wings… 🦸‍♂️🦦

We had a lovely donor ferret and their owner who were able to help. Their generosity may ultimately have saved Cabbage’s life. ❤️

Thankfully, Cabbage’s blood transfusion went well, and today he came back to us for a repeat PCV.

Cue a few tense moments while we waited for the result… 👀

✨ 24%! ✨

We were absolutely thrilled! Cabbage’s PCV has more than doubled, and he is definitely heading in the right direction. 🥹💚

And, because every brave little patient deserves a reward, Cabbage also enjoyed a lovely meal at the vets today. Needless to say, he thoroughly approved! 😋

✨️ We’re celebrating Gen, one of our amazing vets, becoming a Gold Antibiotic Guardian! ✨️

We’re really pleased to share that Gen, has achieved Gold Antibiotic Guardian status! 🏆🐾

But what does this actually mean?

Antibiotics are incredibly important medicines, but using them unnecessarily or incorrectly can contribute to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) — meaning bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics, making infections harder to treat in the future.

As a practice, we’re committed to responsible antimicrobial prescribing. This means:

🐾 Only using antibiotics when they are genuinely needed
💊 Choosing the most appropriate antibiotic for the infection
🔬 Using diagnostic testing where appropriate to help guide treatment
📋 Prescribing the correct dose and duration
🔄 Reviewing treatment and avoiding unnecessary or prolonged courses
🌱 Considering alternative treatments where antibiotics aren't indicated

Becoming a Gold Antibiotic Guardian recognises Gen’s commitment to antimicrobial stewardship and helping to ensure these vital medicines remain effective for both animals and people for generations to come. 💛

Antibiotic resistance is a shared responsibility, and every sensible prescribing decision makes a difference.

🐰💚 **Happy International Rabbit Day!** 💚🐰

Today is all about celebrating our long-eared, fluffy friends — and reminding ourselves what rabbits really need to live happy, healthy lives. 🥕✨

Did you know…?

🐇 **Rabbits can live for 8–12 years (and sometimes longer!)** — they’re a long-term commitment and need care throughout their lives.

👂 **Their ears aren’t just cute!** Rabbit ears help them regulate their body temperature and are incredibly sensitive, helping them detect potential danger.

🦷 **Their teeth never stop growing!** Rabbits need to constantly chew to wear their teeth down naturally. A diet rich in hay and grass is essential for healthy teeth.

💩 **Rabbits should be eating and pooping regularly!** Their digestive systems are designed to keep food moving through constantly. A rabbit that stops eating or producing droppings can become seriously unwell very quickly.

🥬 **Hay should make up the majority of their diet.** Fresh, good-quality hay should be available at all times, alongside a small amount of leafy greens and a measured portion of appropriate rabbit pellets.

❤️ **Rabbits are social animals.** Where possible, they should live with a compatible rabbit companion rather than alone. Human interaction is important too, but it doesn't replace rabbit companionship.

🏡 **They need space to exercise and explore.** A small hutch isn't enough! Rabbits need plenty of room to stand up on their back legs, run, binky, stretch, forage and exhibit their natural behaviours. (see recommended guidelines for size requirements image)!

🌿 **Foraging is fun!** Scatter feeding, hiding food and providing safe branches, cardboard and toys can encourage natural behaviours and help keep rabbits mentally stimulated.

⚠️ **And remember — rabbits are experts at hiding illness.** Changes in appetite, droppings, behaviour or movement should never be ignored. If your rabbit seems unwell, contact your vet promptly.

🐰 **A happy rabbit is a rabbit that can eat, explore, forage, socialise, hide, rest and binky!**

These are our lovely Veterinary Nurse, Dee's bunny's, living their best lives! Dee has an enormous hutch and run for her bunny rabbits. If you have ever have a bunny related question, ask for Dee and she would be more than happy to advise!

We’re so excited to share that we have achieved Silver Rabbit Friendly Accreditation with the Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF)! 🥳🐇

This is something we’re incredibly proud of, as it recognises the hard work and dedication our team puts into providing high-quality, rabbit-specific care.
So, what does it take to become a Rabbit Friendly Practice? 👇

The assessment also looks at the experience and knowledge of the whole team — from reception through to our vets and nurses.

We’re particularly proud that this accreditation recognises our commitment to understanding rabbits as the unique patients they are, including their behaviour, welfare needs and the importance of reducing stress throughout their visit.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Community Day! ❤️

What a fantastic turnout - it was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the day with us.

We had loads of little ones getting into the fun with dressing up, the teddy bear clinic, face painting and meeting some amazing exotic pets! 🐢

Families also enjoyed our tours and had the chance to learn more about nutrition and preventative care, with fantastic support from our partners Hills, Elanco and KRKA. A huge thank you to them for helping make the day such a success.

And, of course, a special thank you to everyone who took part in the tombola and the silent auction and helped us raise funds. We’ll keep you updated on the new equipment we’re able to purchase thanks to your generosity - we can’t wait to put it to good use!

Thank you again for making our Community Day such a brilliant day. We hope you all had as much fun as we did! 🐾💙
