Apparently GCSE results are supposed to tell you where you’re going in life.

Mine clearly missed the memo 😹

I didn’t exactly smash my GCSEs, went on to do sixth form, college and two degrees anyway… and after a few completely different careers, I now spend my days running a cat sitting business.

Or, according to some people, I don’t have a “real job” 🙀

Which is fine. I’ll ponder that between managing bookings, keys, medication, mileage, admin, client updates and being answerable to several tiny CEOs with extremely strict dinner schedules.

But jokes aside, results day can feel HUGE when you’re 16.

If today hasn’t gone how you hoped, it doesn’t mean you’ve just been handed a preview of the rest of your life.

You might follow the plan.
You might change it completely.
You might end up doing something that doesn’t even exist in your head yet.

I certainly didn’t have professional cat sitter on my careers form 😂

Anyway, must dash. My “not real job” is waiting 🐱💖

A fully booked July. August almost fully booked. And two nominations landing on the same day 🥹🐾

The Liverpool Lifestyle Awards one caught me completely off guard. Mostly because I’d forgotten I’d even applied amongst all the kitty chaos 😹

Though as of today, we also have someone quietly keeping the admin under control behind the scenes… and CozyCat just got a little bit bigger 🙌🏼

And the Animal Star Awards? Apparently a few of you nominated me, so thank you 💖

This wouldn’t be happening without every client who trusted us with their cat. Every owner who came back. Every recommendation. Every review. And every cat (and owner!) who eventually decided I was acceptable 🥰

“My friend will pop in.” It’s the most common thing I hear. And it’s the thing that worries me most. 🐾

Every other day cat sitting is requested more than you’d think. And every time, there’s a friend. A well-meaning, busy, ultimately imaginary friend.

Because here’s what actually happens. You leave. The friend has every intention of going. Life gets in the way. And your cat is at home, alone, with an emptying bowl and no idea when anyone is coming.

We can tell when a cat hasn’t been visited on the alternate days. Every single time.

Cats don’t just miss you when you’re gone. They deteriorate. Sometimes within 24 hours of being left without proper care. By the time the friend finally shows up — if they show up — the damage is already done.

I’ve sat with cats who stopped eating the day their owner left. Cats hiding in pain that nobody caught early enough because nobody was there to notice.

And beyond the welfare side — my insurance doesn’t cover alternate day visits. If something goes wrong, there’s no protection for your cat or for anyone involved.

Your cat’s backup plan cannot be imaginary. They deserve better than that.

Daily visits. Every time. No exceptions. That’s the only standard CozyCat will ever offer 🐾
