🎉🐾 It’s our favourite Kat’s birthday!

Today we’re celebrating someone very special to CozyCat. My mum, Kat! 💖

Another year older, another year of being bossed around by cats, handing out treats and somehow managing to put up with me too 😹

And what a difference a year makes!

CozyCat has grown so much over the last 12 months, and while I’m usually the face of the business, there are some pretty amazing people helping make it all happen. Kat is a HUGE part of that.

She’s not just my mum, she’s one of the biggest reasons CozyCat is where it is today. She’s someone I can always count on, and I genuinely couldn’t imagine doing this without her.

From looking after our lovely kitty clients to supporting me through all the ups and downs of running a business, she’s always there. And getting to share this journey with her makes it even more special 💖

So, Happy Birthday, Mum! 🥳 Thank you for everything you do, for me, for CozyCat and for all the little whiskered faces we get to care for.

Penny clearly didn’t read the brief 😹

I was told I’d probably spend most of our time together in the bedroom, with Penny keeping an eye on me from under the bed 🛏️

But within a couple of visits, she got curious. Next thing I knew, she was coming out to play and enjoy fusses… and just a couple of days in, she was following me downstairs too! 🥹

I thought I’d be keeping her company under the bed. Penny decided I’d be her entertainment instead 😹

No pressure, no dragging her out. Just letting her decide when she wanted to get to know me 🥰

Not every cat will choose to come out, and that’s absolutely fine too. We work at their pace 🐾

Turns out our cats might have life figured out better than we do 😹🐾

They nap without guilt, set boundaries without overthinking, find happiness in the smallest things and never apologise for being themselves.

Meanwhile, we’re feeling guilty for sitting down for five minutes!

Of course, looking after our mental health isn’t always that simple, but this World Mental Health Day, perhaps we could all take a little inspiration from our feline friends 💖

Here’s your reminder that rest is important, boundaries are healthy and you don’t need to have everything figured out.

As a cat sitting business, it felt only right to make a few adjustments 😹🐈‍⬛

Because black cats are ridiculously photogenic and we say it all the time. Shiny coats, spooky season energy, and professional-level posing? Elite 🖤

Shy cat? Nervous cat? That doesn’t mean cat sitting won’t work 🐾

Walter’s owners described him as a big softie, but nervous around new people, so Sophie already knew she’d need to take things slowly.

On her first visit, Walter ran away when he saw her and kept his distance. He wouldn’t even eat in front of her at first.

So instead of pushing for interaction, Sophie gave him space, sat nearby, read to him and let him get used to her voice and presence in his own time.

Then the little changes started.

He ate in front of her.
His body language softened.
He started staying nearby.
He slowly joined in with playtime.
And eventually… came the fusses and purrs 🥹

By the end of the visits, Walter was coming over to say hello, accepting strokes and happily hanging around for attention.

For his owners, the daily photo and video updates meant they could see that both Walter and Mabel were relaxed, eating normally and happy in their own home while they were away.

This is exactly why in-home cat sitting can work so well for shy or nervous cats. They get to stay in their familiar environment, keep their normal routine, and build trust with their sitter at their own pace.

A huge well done to Sophie too — this was one of her first CozyCat bookings and she handled Walter so patiently 💖
