About Us

Our charity is based on the belief that all animals deserve a loving and comfortable home and meeting these needs are of the utmost importance. Our entire team is committed to getting results for the animals in our care and we all work towards the goal of creating a loving environment, whether in our care or in their new homes, our charity aims to promote health and well being in all th

e animals we care for. The History

Animal Aid was founded in 1990 by Susan Geeleher and Kay Sheridan and was granted charitable status in September 1990 by the Charity Commission, registered charity no 1143133. Its main aims are to rescue abused and abandoned cats and to offer them a safe environment with any medical care that the animals require. At first we rented 6 units from private boarding kennels in Melling; we eventually were able to rent all the units and build a cattery. As the volunteer base grew, in 1992 we were offered a piece of land in Field Lane, Fazakerley at a peppercorn rent and we were able to build 12 kennels, a large cattery and a small administration unit. Unfortunately after 3 years at Field Lane, the owner sold the land for redevelopment and we had to move out. The cats are now housed in a purpose built cattery. We ensure that any person wishing to adopt any of our animals has the necessary home checks to ensure a safe and loving environment before adoption is agreed. The Charity relies on donations from the public and the income from the shop which is staffed entirely by volunteers - without their help we would not be able to function.

Little update on Casper. He is doing amazing after his dental surgery on Thursday he only had 7 teeth and all of them where in bad condition so have been removed. He is eating fine and is on antibiotics. We would just like to say thank you to everyone who donated towards his dental surgery, we really appreciate your support. ❤

Due to unintentionally offending some people we took the decision to remove our last post . We are not here to cause upset to anyone so the post has been removed
So just to reiterate Saturday 13th June our shop will be shutters down all day due to a certain event on County Rd. The cattery staff have alternative access so cats will be taken care of as usual. Unfortunately due to past events we feel it's both necessary and in our best interests to keep our shop closed for the whole day
I do hope this ammendment meets with your approval
Thankyou

CASPER
Say hello to our new Animal Aid family member. Just look at those adorable deep set eyes, he almost looks sad.
This beautiful boy is ten years old
and recently came into our care ,his story has touched our hearts.
His family told us that he went missing over six years ago. After such a long time his family didn't believe they would see Casper again so they welcomed a new puss into their home.

Somehow, against all odds Casper found his way back home after such a long time gone.
Sadly ,new puss rejected Casper and he couldn't stay in the home.
That's why he's come to us to start a new chapter in his life and receive the care and attention he desperately needs.
He's been for a health check at the vets and though he's not got all his teeth ,he needs some dental work next week.
The estimate for the extraction is £665 and as a small independent charity we rely ENTIRELY on public donations and customers in our charity shop to raise funds.
If you would like to contribute to Caspers dental treatment then we know just how much each and every £1 does make a difference.
We never ask for ourselves but for the cats in our care, it's them who rely on you for their well-being and care so if you can spare just £1 then OUR hearts thankyou.
We'll link details in comments.
Welcome to our Animal Aid family beautiful friendly boy Casper.

Our couples of the rescue.

Pat and Patsy (brother and sister)
Vogue and Mistletoe (best friends)
Vince and Virgil (brothers)

Sometimes when in rescue some of our cats form bonds with each other or they are already bonded when they come to us. It's bonds like these we can't break.

We would love to find really good homes for our couples so they can stay together and thrive in their very own home.

If you would like any information on our gorgeous couples please DM

Today our stunning little lady Bella has left our care and is now in her new home with her new mum and dad Julie and Andrew.
The couple have another cat named Prince and are hoping Bella can be his new companion after they have recently lost their gorgeous cat Chilli.
Bella has only been at the rescue a few weeks after her previous owner went into hospital so it was only a short time at rescue for the beautiful Bella.
Well done Bella, we wish you the best life in your new home with your new family. ❤

Thankyou so much Bill for the hard work that you do for us ,including your food donations too.
We are delighted with them and we think our furry friends agree.

The beautiful Poppy has left our care today and is now in her new home with Sarah and her family. Poppy is not the biggest fan of other cats so she needed a home with no other pets and when Sarah came to the rescue to meet some of our furry friends she spotted Poppy straight away and wanted to know all about our fluffy lady and today Poppy became part of the family.
Well done Poppy ❤

Our gorgeous little Sisi has left us today to start her new life with her new mum Rachel.
Sisi first came to us last year heavily pregnant at only 12 months old after only a week in rescue she gave birth to 4 adorable little babies Roxy, Max, Bradley and Peggy. All her kittens found their forever homes but no one offered our little Sisi a home until Rachel met her last week. This is the perfect little home for our girl and we know Sisi will have everything she needs and get all the love she more than deserves.
Well done Sisi we all love you at the rescue and wish you the best life little sweetheart ❤
