☀️🐶 Hot Weather Warning – Heatstroke Can Be Fatal 🐶☀️

We all know that as temperatures rise, our dogs are at serious risk of heatstroke — and it can happen much faster than people realise. We’re available to give your dog a full clip off! Feel free to book.

Please remember:
🐾 Never leave a dog in a car, even for a few minutes
🐾 Walk dogs early morning or late evening
🐾 Avoid hot pavements — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
🐾 Always provide fresh, cool water and shaded areas
🐾 Be extra careful with flat-faced breeds, elderly dogs, overweight dogs and puppies

Signs of heatstroke can include:
⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Drooling
⚠️ Weakness or collapse
⚠️ Vomiting or diarrhoea
⚠️ Bright red gums
⚠️ Confusion or distress

If you suspect heatstroke:
❄️ Move your dog somewhere cool immediately
❄️ Offer small amounts of water
❄️ Use cool (not ice cold) water on paws, belly and body
❄️ Contact your vet urgently

A fun day in the sun can quickly turn dangerous. Let’s keep our dogs safe this summer 🐶🌞

🐰 Did you know we also groom rabbits! (and long haired guinea pigs).

A rabbit’s diet plays a huge role in their health and hygiene 🌾 especially in this glorious weather, when they’re at risk of fly strike!

A healthy rabbit diet should consist mainly of:
🌿 Unlimited hay, replaced daily – essential for digestion and dental health
🥗 Fresh leafy greens daily (not lettuce)
💧 Fresh water at all times
🥕 Pellets, muslie mix and treats only in moderation

Poor diet, excess weight or difficulty grooming themselves can leave rabbits with messy bottoms. This can sadly increase the risk of Fly Strike, a serious and potentially fatal condition where flies lay eggs on soiled fur. 🪰

Signs to watch for include:
⚠️ Dirty or wet rear end
⚠️ Strong smell
⚠️ Lethargy or loss of appetite
⚠️ Visible maggots or irritation

Regular grooming and hygiene checks are so important, especially for long-haired, elderly or overweight rabbits. 🐇✨ check bottoms daily!

We can help keep your bunny clean, comfortable and less at risk, with gentle rabbit grooming appointments, including de-shedding, hygiene trims and coat maintenance.

There’s nothing our vet nurse Lisa hasn’t seen.
Feel free to book 🐇💕

We recommend brushing your best friend at home, so we can look after their coat when they visit the salon.
Our goal is to capture their true character, and this is best achieved when the coat is cared for all year round.
Here’s what we’d recommend for your pet.

🧸 Short / Smooth coats (eg. Labrador, Beagle, dachshund)
Recommended brushing:
• 1–2 times per week
• Use a rubber brush, grooming mitt, or soft bristle brush

🐑 Double coats (eg. Golden Retriever, Husky)
Recommended brushing:
• 2–4 times per week (daily during heavy shed)
• Use slicker brush + undercoat rake

🐩 Curly / wool coats (eg. Poodle, doodle, X breeds)
Recommended brushing:
• Daily or at least every other day
• Use slicker brush + metal comb

🎀 Long silky coats (eg. Shih Tzu, Yorkie , Maltese…
Recommended brushing:
• Daily light brushing
• Use pin brush + fine comb

🧶 Wire coats (eg. Schnauzer, Terrier)
Recommended brushing:
• 1–2 times per week
• Use slicker or bristle brush

Weekend appointments available!
New customers welcome!

🐾 Spring Reminder – Flea Policy 🐾

As we move into the warmer spring months, fleas unfortunately become much more common. At The K9 Country Spa, we work hard to keep the salon a clean, safe and flea-free environment for all of our lovely dogs.

Please don’t bring your dog to the salon if it has fleas.

If fleas are discovered on your dog during their grooming appointment, an additional £15 charge will be applied. This covers the medicated flea shampoo and the extra cleaning and sanitising required to protect other dogs in the salon. The grooming session will be stopped, and you’ll be contacted to collect your dog immediately.

If your dog is known to have fleas, please contact us to reschedule once treatment has been given. We kindly ask for 24 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation charge.

If ticks are found during the groom, they can be safely removed for an additional £5 charge.

Thank you so much for your understanding and for helping us keep the salon a safe, comfortable and hygienic space for every dog that visits. Your dogs are always our priority 🫧🐾
