A company which may or may not actually exist is promoting Alumni Sweatshirts for sale with our name on them. They have been tagging many of you in an effort to encourage you to purchase these garments. 🐴 Sunday 13 September is our autumn fundraiser, from 1-4pm.

💜 Come and see our volunteers football world cup themed demonstration showing of their skills and that of our horses and ponies. Kindly funded by the 23 Foundahion (Jamie Carragher) through the Community Foundation for Merseyside 🩷

We'll also have our fundraising stalls, win every time tombola, and homemade cakes and refreshments ☕🍰 and a teddy bear tombola! 🧸 Don't forget there will be pony rides too 🐴

Our beautiful big Baileigh has just left us to go to pastures new!
Baileigh has been with us since 2016 and has previously been rehomed as a ridden horse. He is now 22 years old and has had some physical issues over the last couple of years which have led to his retirement from ridden work.
Luckily for him, we believe older horses and those who can't be ridden have just as much value and just as much right to a happy life as any other horse, so he would have remained safe at our sanctuary for the rest of his days. However, a few weeks ago a nice lady came looking for a large, calm companion for her existing horse who had recently lost their friend and found that Baileigh was just the boy for the job.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Open Day & Fun Dog Show today, it was lovely to see you all and meet your lovely dogs!
Thanks also to our amazing team of volunteers for setting up and running the day as well as looking after the horses around it, and special thanks to Pawsitively Does It for organising and running the dog show.
We hope you and your pets all had a lovely time in the cooler weather, our horses were delighted with the carrots and attention and we raised a total of £1028! Every penny helps to keep the sanctuary going, and we really appreciate your kindness and support, so thanks again. If you weren't able to attend today, please consider making a donation instead if you're able.
Our last open day of this summer will be on Sunday 13th September and will feature a riding display starring our rescue horses and ponies and our young volunteers as well as all of the usual stalls and attractions. We hope to see you there, it will be the last chance until our Christmas Special in December...

Fun classes just £1 each to enter! Entries on the day - see poster for class details. As always, dogs must be kept on a lead at all times 🐕‍🦺 A huge thanks to Dawn Cassar for organising this show for us once again 🩷

Monty Roberts 14th May 1935 - 31st July 2026

Dearest Monty, you were a visionary who reshaped the horizon for the entire equestrian world. You showed us that gentleness is the ultimate strength and that real bonds are forged in trust, never in submission. You had the courage to walk those first difficult steps, you inspired in us the bravery to follow and help to make the world a safer place for all living things. We aspire to a world were violence is never the answer.

May you rest peacefully now, knowing your message is safe with us. Watch over those you taught to remain humble, adaptable, and always open to a better way.

We at Shy Lowen are eternally grateful for your 15 years as our Patron. Your legacy will never fade.

Our thoughts are with Pat, Debbie and all your close friends and family at this very sad time.
