🐱 Could your cat be suffering from whisker fatigue?🐾

Whiskers aren’t just cute, they’re highly sensitive sensory tools that help cats understand and navigate their surroundings.

When a cat’s food or water bowl is too deep or narrow, their whiskers can repeatedly brush against the sides, which may cause discomfort or stress for some cats. This is often referred to as whisker fatigue.

👀 Signs to look out for:
• Avoiding their food or water bowl
• Pacing around the bowl
• Eating from the floor instead
• Acting frustrated or hesitant at mealtimes
• Preferring a wider, shallow dish

💡 Simple solution: Try switching to a wide, shallow bowl or plate that allows your cat to eat and drink without their whiskers constantly touching the sides.

Every cat is different, so if your cat is consistently struggling to eat or drink, it’s worth speaking to your vet to rule out other causes. ❤️

Today I wanted to shine a spotlight on a very special local rescue, Garston Animal Rescue ❤️

Based in Liverpool, Garston is a small, independent, volunteer-led rescue helping animals who are sick, injured, abandoned or in danger. They provide veterinary care, rehabilitation, sanctuary and, wherever possible, loving forever homes. 🏡🐾

Their work also includes:

🐱 Feral cat neutering, treatment & return
🏠 Foster homes & long-term sanctuary
🩺 Veterinary care for sick & injured animals
💬 Advice and support for pet owners

They rely heavily on volunteers, foster carers, donations and the generosity of animal lovers to continue their work.
