I would like to introduce the lovely Ruby to everyone, she has come to join the Caradon team as needed more work. She had originally gone to Tina’s to keep her little pony company but she’s had a chat with her owner Mandy and between them they feel she will work well within our system and have lots of little kids to love and spoil her. She will be left to settle and then put through her paces next week. We look forward to seeing what this pony can do and can’t wait for you all to enjoy her. Thank you to Mandy and Tina for giving us this opportunity.

It is with a heavy heart that we have to let you all know we made the very hard decision to let Kia go yesterday. She was the grand old age of 31, her spirit was still there but unfortunately her body was giving up on her. With wobbly teeth and liver failure this was the kindest thing for her but the hardest thing for us.

Kia has been with us since day dot of our Caradon journey, taught so many little people to ride and enjoyed her lovely long retirement with us. When I say we keep our horses to the end we truly do. She was so loved by everyone and I’m so grateful to have had this little pony in our lives. Will miss her little whinny every morning for food but she’s in a much healthier place now. Rest in peace little lady.

***SATURDAY 11th JULY***
Due to the rising temperatures we have made the decision to close tomorrow, Saturday 11th July.

We are expecting temperatures above 28 degrees again with it feeling like 30 degrees by 10am and feel it’s not fair on the horses or staff to go ahead with the morning. As we are very open on the moor we have no shade in the arena and can’t run the risk of hoping for a breeze. If you have a lesson booked with us tomorrow please do get in touch to reschedule, we are slowly working our way through bookings as well. Thanks for your cooperation and staff safe everyone.

***WANTED***
Due to some horses retiring we are on the look out for loans or Working livery horses and ponies. We are looking out for a couple of horses/ponies to join our team here at Caradon Hill. 13.2hh and above, don’t mind age as long as sane and sensible in the arena and on the open moorland. Can have the odd quirk of discussed through.

Our horses and ponies have a very varied life of schooling and moorland rides, so they don’t get bored and switch off in the arena. They are cared for to the highest standard possible and only do a maximum of 4 days work a week. Our horses and ponies live out 24/7 in mixed herds and this seems to work well. We have many owners who are happy to comment on our care of our horses as all of the ones we have at the moment have been with us for years.

With the hot weather heading our way again we will take each day as it comes hour by hour. If you are riding this week please remember to wear suncream or a long sleeved top and bring a drink. Keeping us, yourselves and our horses safe and healthy is our main priority so please keep checking to see if we do cancel anything. ***HEAT WAVE***

With this extreme heat wave upon us we have made the decision to close the yard Monday 22nd to Thursday 25th due to horse welfare issues. It’s not fair on the horses to be made to work is these kind of conditions, even trying to move to early morning and late evenings will still be too hot for them. Saying this Friday is looking much cooler so we will be moving lessons to Friday and Saturday so if you do have a slot with us this week please do message to try and reschedule to another day. Stay cool and hydrated everyone, we will be working hard to keep the animals cold and happy here.
