Westport Vets' Online Pet Show 2026!

To celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month Westport Vet's are fundraising for Breast Cancer Now with an Online Pet Show!

We have two amazing VIP Pet Show Judges this year - both VIP Judges do incredible work fundraising for Breast Cancer! World Series Marathon Runner Eddie Hughes, as well as the fabulous Linlithgow Moondance Team!

Online Pet Show Categories:

🎀 Pets Tickled Pink!
(happy pets or pets in pink!)
🎀 Adventure Pets
(on a walk, on holiday or exploring something new)
🎀 Cheeky Pets
(looking mischievous, caught in the act, pets being silly!)
🎀 Sleeping Beauties

To Enter:
1) We kindly ask for a donation to take part - no limit of donation, just whatever you can manage (payment link below).
2) Email pet photo/s and tell us your pets name and which catagory you are entering, to: [email protected]

▪️Unlimited entries per category - all species are welcome to take part!

Keep Pets Safe in Autumn.

🔸️Conkers
Horse chestnut conkers contain aesculin which is toxic. Can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, tremors, or kidney and liver damage.
Hard shells also pose a severe risk of life-threatening intestinal blockages if swallowed whole.

🔸️Acorns
Contain a type of toxin called tannic acid.
Dogs are particularly sensitive.
Small amounts can make pets sick, and larger amounts (or if small amounts are eaten regularly) can cause kidney and liver failure.
Green acorns contain the highest amounts and most poisonous before they ripen.
Acorns are also high risk of blocking intestines.

🔸️Wild Mushrooms/Fungi
Autumn dampness brings up many wild mushroom species in grass and woodland.
Some are highly toxic and can cause rapid, severe vomiting, liver failure, or neurological signs.

Think your pet has eaten something potentially toxic? Please treat this as an emergency and phone your vet ASAP.

Learning never stops at Westport Vets!

Our entire team takes part in Continuing Professional Development (CPD), continually building our knowledge, developing new skills, and keeping up to date with the latest in veterinary medicine. This helps us provide the highest standard of care for both our patients and their owners.

Recently, the team enjoyed a fantastic ‘Lunch & Learn’ CPD session led by Ambra, Clinical Lead of Anaesthesia & Analgesia at Vet Specialists Scotland (VSS). The session covered a range of topics, including pain scoring, analgesia, and anaesthetic blocks.

Working alongside veterinary specialists is a brilliant opportunity for our team to expand their knowledge and skills, and this was an incredibly informative and valuable session!

A huge thank you to Ambra and the team at VSS for sharing their expertise with us!

Could you help raise a puppy for Guide Dogs?

We’re supporting Guide Dogs UK in their search for amazing volunteers to become Puppy Raisers and Puppy Fosterers.

Right now, there’s a real shortage of volunteers in Scotland, and your help is needed more than ever.

Puppy Raisers care for a future guide dog from around 8 weeks old, providing a loving home, basic training, and socialisation.

Puppy Fosterers offer short-term care for puppies or dogs at different stages of their journey.

You don’t need previous experience – full support, training, and veterinary costs are covered. All you need is time, patience, and lots of love to give.

This is a truly rewarding opportunity to play a part in helping someone with sight loss gain independence and confidence.

We recently had the pleasure of two VIP Vets, Sophie and Rosie, join the Westport team at the Linlithgow branch! Sophie won the VIP Vet Experience in our Pet Trail Prizedraw.

VIP Vets Sophie and Rosie, looked the part in their vet scrubs, with stethoscopes at the ready and an animal patient under each arm.

The VIP Vets got a behind-the-scenes tour, and learned what happens when pets come in for treatment. They consulted in the Cat Clinic, did care tasks with RVN Carena, and scrubbed in to perform surgery and a cesarean with Vet Yasmin.

Their skills shone in the practical tasks workshop, from tube feeding to microchipping, and expertly bandaged their animal patients from home - and several of the lifesize models.

They even got to see some live action tasks as the Wesport 24 out-of-hours team attended to in-patients.
